Shiv Mahal, is a Pure Veg. which is located just next to the Santacruz(W) station. I have been here many times, but its actually not worth it.
This restaurant would only be my last choice due to many of my past experiences. Firstly, majority of the crowd you would see during Sunday is actually due to the fact the Hotel Shabari(located just opposite it) is a better restaurant than Shiv Mahal. On Sunday's, Hotel Shabari is too over-crowded due to which majority of the crowds go to Shiv Mahal to save time.
During the rest of the week, Shiv Mahal has very less crowds. I have had lunch and dinner many times in this restaurant and I was actually quite unsatisfied by the quality of food offered by them.
Some of the problems that I faced while dinning here are:
1) Most of the dishes mentioned in the Menu are not available on Sunday's due to over-crowding.
2) Service is too slow. A dish you order may take upto 30 minutes to coming at your table.
3) No parking outside the restaurant.
4) There is BAR on top of the restaurant. So, you can imagine the crowds. The crowds are really bad.
5) The ambience is also on the average side.
6) The Sev Puri I tasted once had absolutely no taste at all.
7) Food is also prepared in quite unhygienic conditions. You can see people cutting vegetable behind the restaurant.
So, I actually avoid going to this place. I prefer other restaurants over this.
