It becomes evident right away that the director and the writers of Shaadi Se Pehle had no idea what film they really wanted to make. First you're led to believe this is a slapstick comedy, then comes the whole torture. The film doesn't take itself too seriously and neither should you.

Akshaye Khanna plays a young man who mistakenly believes that he's dying of cancer. He knows this news will leave his fiancee Ayesha Takia quite shattered so he decides not to reveal the truth to her. He figures that the only way she'll come away unhurt is if she dumps him herself. But why would she dump him? Well, if he pretended to be an alcoholic and a womaniser, she certainly would. So that's exactly what he does. Akshaye pretends he's suddenly developed the hots for sizzling model Mallika Sherawat, and exactly as per plan, his fiancee sees red.

Now the only problem is that Mallika really falls for him, and it's not so easy getting out of that situation, because her brother Sunil Shetty happens to be an underworld don. Of course, eventually, Akshaye finds out he doesn't have cancer and he's not about to die

This film plays on all of the stereotypes, and every single character in the film is as good as a cardboard caricature with lines so predictable that you could have scripted them yourself without any difficulty at all. To say that Shaadi Se Pehle is amateurishly scripted, is being very kind to Satish Kausiik who's even written the film himself.

When you're watching a seemingly coherent film, you do expect attention to detail and continuity, you also expect the use of logic and reason. But really, when you're discussing a film like Shaadi Se Pehle, how can you even expect that anyone involved might have actually used their brain? A mish-mash of many genres it may be, but problem is Shaadi is still extremely predictable. Also the comedy in this film is so juvenile and so amateurish that even class four students would find it too childish. The slapstick humour between Rajpal and Akshay really begin to get on your nerves after a while, making you want to throw something at the screen to end the misery.

To make matters worse, Shaadi Se Pehle stars one of the most annoying actors in those roles that are meant to evoke mirth.

Akshay Khanna who hams and overacts like there's no tomorrow, or for Mallika who is so loud and so animated that your temperature rises every time she walks into the frame. It's only poor Boman who brings some level of sincerity to his role. But even he can't do very much to salvage this dud.Ayesha is so thandi and boring this time around .Rajpal ,Sunil ,Aftab do not merit a mention.

At best Shaadi Se Pehle is exactly the kind of film we ought to have outgrown. But if you end up laughing at a few jokes here and there , please remember that you desperately need to get a life.
