We all have come to know the foursome of New York. If not, this is not the movie for you! For those who religiously watched the weekly series on HBO or caught on as it ran in syndication on TBS, you are one of the “In-Crowd.” Sex and the City is a continuation of the original storyline and those who have an expectation of this movie expect it to deliver the same suave and cheeky style of the original series. And this movie delivers!

Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), Charlotte (Kristen Davis) and Samantha (Kim Catrell) are back but not all in New York and not all settled. Carrie is in New York and living a happy life with Big, aka John Preston (Chris Noth)-Yes, we finally know John’s last name! Carrie and Big decide to take the final step and get married. So Carrie is in search of the “perfect wedding” and what she gets is a lesson that she will be able to write a book about.

Charlotte shows us her maternal side(s) and makes us laugh as we have known and loved before as her uptight self, still trying to get pregnant. Samantha is not quite her normal “Cougar” self, but also goes through her “almost 50” stage of her life as she travels back and forth between her home in California and her life in New York. And then there is Miranda who stirs up the whole pot, setting the stage for drama for the four and inadvertently almost ruins Carrie’s life and well as her own. Jennifer Hudson as Carrie’s assistant, Louise is plausible in her second role since American Idol, no singing but good support, fun and camaraderie for poor Carrie.

Sex and the City gives us even more than we expect. I have to admit, I blushed several times with the over-the-top erotic scenes. I wonder how the producers got a way with an R Rating! The show always had that racy sexual edge, but the movie delivered above expectation. With the great sex, we also got great fashion, great love, deep sorrow and a lot of laughs! I laughed and cried all through the movie which I would not have expected and found myself involved with buzz of SEX followers. I found no one was disappointed with the movie.

This movie is best to see with at least one girlfriend and if you can manage to sneak in a Cosmopolitan, even better! Of course, you can wait to get it on DVD but you will miss the great New York City scenes and the Fashion week, which always makes a movie better. If you chose to see this movie on DVD or when it is available on Cable (and I have no doubts that it will be available on Cable), you will still enjoy it. One thing I think might be fun is to look for the many scenes that lack continuity (Check out the list from https://IMDB.com ). I did not see any while watching because I was having to much fun in the spirit of the film but will certainly see this again (on DVD) and have fun with those!
