A pioneering film. Review on Satta

This is quite a different film. A first of it's kind in Hindi films. For once the heroine is not an object of pleasure to satisfy the Hero. Second the woman is not dependent on any man for her success. Third woman are potrayed vulgarly. (This really is a big relief.)

Raveena Tandon has done a really brilliant job. She looks very mature and beautiful. The director does not attempt to use the woman's body or sex appeal but rather her character. So for a change a heroine is really a heroine in Hindi films.

I wont reveal the script, but the story is about politics. So maybe it might look a little far fetched. But looking at all the larger than life size heros, I dont mind seeing some woman power. But the director takes care not to get too carried away. So Raveena maintains her femininity intact. She does go about beating up people or anything as we saw a few heroines do in South Indian films.

Likewise the songs dont interfere with the flow of the film. All in all a very mature attempt and also a pioneering film. But for all it's good intentions I think it will flop. The metros have a strange version of modernity and the interiors of India, might find this a bit too hard to stomach.
