Few months ago, I purchased Trend and it was an average buy for me. Not expecting much as this was my first android phone, I would say that I am satisfied till date. Few problems here and there, this phone would earn a 2.5 stars from my end.
Let me begin by mentioning its specification:
*Samsung Galaxy Trend
-Dual SIM
-Capacitative touch screen
-Android(Jelly Bean)
-1 GHz Processor
-4 inches Screen
-3 Megapixel camera
-1500 mAh Battery
-512 MB RAM*
Well looking at the specs, it seems to be descent and I would say it's a descent buy in 7k. But there are few glitches here and there. I would personally not recommend this to any one as after few months of use I found this phone to be more on the disadvantageous rather than advantageous.
This brand is dying off and brands like xolo are capturing the market, and the main problem with Samsung is that they manufacture so many brands but very few of them are hit and the rest are below average.
Let me start the other way round by first mentioning the disadvantages and then the advantages:
-Low RAM has really frustrated me and navigation is no more smooth.
-Touchwiz eats up a lot of RAM. Resulting in the delay or loss of pixels slowing down the game play.
-The processor is slow and in this age of phone which are dual core and quad core this phone can't compete at all.
-And even the camera isn't too great and no front facing camera for video calling.
-The battery too isn't good as it's only 1500 mAh.
Few good things that I would say about this phone is that:
-I really liked the built quality of this phone, it is well designed and comfortable to hold in hand. The design is the most loved part in this phone and many users prefer design over specifications.
-The screen too is just perfect, and it's better than owning a 5 inch mobile which doesn't even fit in the pocket. So size wise this one is pretty descent.
Sound and reception:
-The sound and reception is good and there isn't much problem while talking on phone.
Ease of use:
-The phone is quite simple and easy to use. It's simple basic android phone and for start ups like me this phone is good.
-Style and design:
-I would say this was one of the few aspects on which Samsung really worked on. The style and design is awesome and it's designed keeping in mind the users. As per me, a lot of thinking has been put behind this aspect.
Range of features:
-There isn't much to boast about the range of features provided by this phone, basic features are available and they are quite enough.
Reliability & Durability:
-Till now the phone is going good. Till now I have been using it very carefully, neither did I drop it nor did I damage it in any sense. I would update this section after a year. But after 3-4 months of experience with this phone I must say this phone is durable.
VFM:
-If you would ask me whether is this phone VFM? I would frankly answer NO! This phone is average and must be avoided if one can. Better go for some other brands like Xolo, Micromax etc.
Final words:
Samsung is nothing but hitting its reputation by manufacturing such phone and bringing the level down which they had created at a given time when it was all about Samsung.
I would not recommend anyone this phone and would like to rate it a 2 star. I would soon be getting rid of this phone and buy a better phone. Hope I could have waited for sometime, read some reviews and then decide whether to buy this phone or not?
This phone can be preferred by people who play small games and for start ups like me.
I would finally rate this phone as,
Design: 3.5 out of 5.
Features: 2.5 out of 5.
Performance: 3 out of 5.
