Saif Ali Khan! Well, this review tho hona hi tha considering I’ve mentioned him in practically all of my reviews so far! What can I say about him? The completely gorgeous heart beater of today, the one who sets his own styles for others to follow and doesn’t believe in vice versa, the one who is at this very moment having an argument with Abhishek Bachan over Chandra! Mouthshut writes “choose products that you wish for and your MS friends may want to get you those as gifts!” If any one of you could get me my wish list, I will be extraordinarily shocked heh heh :P

Well anyway, Saif Ali Khan is one of those actors who we always see as having the same roles, and those roles of course have to be those of a total flirt, but I don’t see why he always gets rejected because he is way to cute to be sent away in real life. (I know he doesn't look nice in that picture!) However, there are many subtle, unrecognised roles where he isn’t the usual playboy type and I think that this has stopped people from recognising his true potential.

The plank

As every wonderful actor like Abhishek has had a rocky start, Saif was definitely no exception. He started off with a large row of big flops, with only a couple of hits, in which he still wasn’t known. And not to mention that ridiculous hair which made him look weird but he still managed to look cute. Admittedly, he didn’t even appeal to me at first: with his school-boyish looks and hidden acting skills.

His debut film was Aashiq Awara alongside popular actors of the time such as Kader Khan and Mamta Kulkarni. This film was a moderate hit, but any credit that went to it was for the more advanced actors in the film, which totally shunned Saif to the side. His acting was very good, if a little amateur and he didn’t get full credit for his role.

Then he made other flop films such as Parmapara which was a Yash Chopra movie, Yaar Gadaar, where his acting was commendable but the movie was completely flop. By this time, all he was seen as was an odd 23 year old, immaturely married to an actress some 15 years older than him, with a strange hair cut, strong accent and cheeky smile.

Other movies he made included Surakshaa, with Monica Bedi, Dil Tera Deewana another major flop and Aao Pyar Kare which was somewhat of a hit but still, Saif was not recognised.

Ahoy there pirate!

But then, Saif was led off the plank and welcomed aboard as a member of the Bollywood crew. Whether it was his dedicated performances in all of the films listed above, or the saving grace of Akshay Kumar nobody knows but one things for sure: there was no going back for him!

Main Khiladi Tu Anari was released and brought with it tons of applause for both Saif and Akshay. As the gorgeous ‘Anari’, he was finally known for his own wonderful acting, although as usual, his playboy roles were getting a bit repetitive. However, one negative factor came with this film: he was not congratulated for his performance as much as Akshay who stole the spotlight. The same thing happened with Yeh Dillagi where Saif gave an outstanding performance but his success was hidden behind the other superstar starring alongside him.

Then a long long break where nobody quite knew what he was doing, he made a couple of flop films which I don’t have a clue about, and finally in 1999 was offered his breakthrough by Rajshri Productions with Hum Saath Saath Hai, with Karishma Kapoor their jodi was clearly the best and their entertainment factor was a definite 10! (But not as nice as him and Chandra of course :P) From here, Saif was on a definite up, and whatever happened, nobody could bring him down! :-) Oh and it was from MKTA that Chandra decided she liked him very much!

Salaam Namaste Captain!

Phir aagaya his period of heaven! Kachhe Dhaage was released with Saif getting approved by many critics as “having wonderful promise”, however the film was a flop. So Saif’s spirits were slightly dropped but he still had to have the sweet scent of success.

2001: his year of triumph which brought with it Dil Chahatta Hai, which was a huge success in the box office, and completely turned Saif’s career upside down, inside out. As the cute, gorgeous, handsome, awesome, charming yet girl obsessed guy in this film, it was clear that finally he had something to celebrate up his sleeve.

Love Ke liye Kuch Bhi Karega, Rehna Hai Tera Dil Mein, Darna Mana Hai, Naa Tum Jaano Naa Hum and L.O.C Kargil were all films where he played side roles or special appearances but still increased his popularity greatly. Like Abhishek, he was turning into an actor who only had to make his presence felt to be loved by all!

Kal Ho Naa Ho: Do I even need to say how fit Saif looked in this movie? With his wonderful face, nice suits and gorgeous smile he stole the hearts of so many people. Ek Haseena Thi made his career boost even more, with one of his first roles that were both negative and not centered around flirting with girls (although there was a fair bit of wolf whistling in the cinema!).

Sab kuch chura liya hai aapne:

What can I say about his latest films? Hum Tum was another film which showed he could play a variety of roles and still look and act very well! His chemistry with Rani Mukhergee was wonderful, but I think one of you Mouthshut guys need to take her away from him, they are getting too close! :P

Parineeta, yes I admit it, I haven’t seen one of his best movies, but kya karu? I just haven’t had the chance, its next on my to do list! :D Well this was an immediate hit in the box office, with Saif in a more serious role!

Salaam Namaste: for more information tune into my or rather any review on this film, like I’ve said, Saif proved he looks brilliant in a Girl Power t-shirt and his acting was superb, and widely acclaimed as an immature, arrogant kind of guy, with a gradual transformation. Oh take Preity away too with her silly short skirts!

sorry, it was less than 8000 characters but MS still wouldn't let me post it! Continued
