Well, I had heard a lot about this film. So, I decided to watch it one fine day. But what I saw in the movie was so different from what I heard.
It is supposed to be a love story. The opening scenes in which Vivek Oberoi& Rani Mukherjee meet each other & fall in 'love' are totally unconvincing. Imagine Rani Mukherjee going in a local train & 'line marring' with a guy (Vivek Oberoi) in the opposite local. Of all the bozos in the world, why would she get attracted to him & give him space in her life beats me. Surely, somebody cannot fall in love just like that. Agreed, they had met once before in a marriage ceremony but that's no justification.
Of course, I have no qualms with the rest of the story because they both play their parts well later on in the movie. Vivek & Rani marry secretly since Rani is from a middle class family & her parents are more conservative in their approach towards marriage & plan to fix an arranged marriage.
The reality of married life soon hits both of them & the bickerings start. It was enjoyable to watch Rani keep count of all her fights by marking in the calendar. Once the parents of Rani decide to marry her off, she reveals the truth. Her father agrees to meet his 'son-in-law' & slaps him at their first & only meeting.
I will not reveal the rest of the story but you know Hindi movies! All's well that ends well. Maybe, the original Tamil version may be better than this. God knows!
