My friend in Bangalore has seen an attractive advertisement from STAR Health insurance last year saying that they cover patients of all ages including above 65 years and got lured in to the scheme and has taken a family cover policy with them.
the expectation from his side was to get covered for the treatment of his father if in case such a need arises. Unfortunately after about 9 months his wife fell sick and has had to undergo a surgery for thyroid with no history of any pre-existing illness. These cheats in Silk board branch office rejected his request for cashless treatment saying there may be a possibility of thyroid condition due to Blood Pressure and rejected his request to give the same in writing.
When my friend told that he will take it up in appropriate forum, they claimed that nothing can be done to STAR Health even if he approach consumer court. He then came to know that these cheats never honor the reimbursements for rejected cashless cases.
my friend may have got cheated by these day-light robbers but people should be aware of such thugs. I am not sure even if IRDA or any such appellate tribunal would ever go after these cheats.
