This is my new review on Microsoft SQL Server 2000. It is also known as MS SQL. MS SQL is used to store data, and its password protected, and it is having good security.
Ok, now lets start my review on main thing...
Introduction: This is Database server from none-other then Microsoft Corporation. This software is used to store data which user enteres on application or on web site. SQL Server handle all the database files, and also it keeps data protected with encryption.
Installation: This is tuff part of this software.Installation of this software is bit technically and need some information about your web server.. well that is there in all Database server, else the installation of this software is at normal speed, takes about 5-6 minutes.
Resources: This server needs quite a good resources.. Like it takes 300 MB of Hard Disk space. and It needs 256 MB Ram but 128 MB Ram will do work.. but your computer will work slow. Overall Resource taken by this Server is at normal level.
Features: MS SQL comes with great features.. It is now XML Enabled, Multi Database support, and lots of other things.. In its earlier version if you want to delte any field from the table then you have to do lots of coding.. but now in MS SQL 2000 there is no need to do lots of coding, Its now very easy. And also I like one more feature in it that, in past version of MS SQL if you want to create its temporary data while some one is entering data so that database does not get corupt.. we have to do lots of coding.. but now MS SQL 2000 Server is having option we can directly select that or we can do it by very small codes.
Data Handling: MS SQL 2000 Server is now supporint very heavy traffic on database. It can now support more than 1000+ users at one time.. But if your database is having more than 5000 entries than it gets very hard for SQL Server 2000 to support more than 1000 users if you do not care of your Server. So here it has its minus point. Else its performance is very nice. But need to take care.
Ease of Use: MS SQL Server 2000 is very easy to use. If you want to create its database its very easy then previous version and also having lots of options. If you want to open database using Web Pages you have to just pass some queries whereas eariler you need to tell provider and lots of things u need to done. Now its very easy.
Protection: Protection under MS SQL Server 2000 is superb compare to MS Access and IBM's Database but compare to Oracle 9i its nothing. MS SQL 2000 Server has recived one certificate in security, whereas Oracle 9i has recieved total 14 certificates. MS SQL Server 2000's encryption is very nice and its very hard to break.. But there is nothing is not-possible in the world.. people have discovered to break MS SQL 2000 server. But it takes lots of time in breaking security of MS SQL 2000 Server.
Uninstallation: Uninstallation of this software is very easy but it takes some time in uninstalling.. because first it will stop server then some process it takes.. so It takes some time in Uninstalling...
For Whom: I recommed this product to only very big company which company is having largest database, other can go for other databases like MS Access. I prefer MS Access for small database.. But If I have to go for Large Databases then I will choose MS SQL. Because its reliable and very fast. Only thing is we have to take its care.
Overall I will give 4 no. of rating to this product, It has loose one point because to take care and security is not much stonge as Oracle Database Server.
