I have not written in a review in quite some time now however the Rise of the Planet of the Apes is a movie that I just had to write in a review about. That and the fact that there is NO review of the movie on Mouthshut. So here goes.

Right off the bat let me clarify that I was a fan of the original Planet of the Apes movie. The movie that I am referring to here is the 1968 Charlton Heston starring classic that I saw in endless reruns on Star Movies in the mid 90's thanks to the cable tv boom and NOT the 2001 Mark Walhberg disaster.

Rise of the planet of the apes nearly fills in everything that would have happened before the 1968 movie and holistically is really a prequel and is really setting up(to what I feel) a new franchise of'Ape' movies.

The movie starts off with James Franco as a scientist discovering a possible cure for Alzheimers. The medicine is tested on chimps and one of his test subjects, a female chimp, gives birth to a super smart chimp baby. The baby is adopted by Franco(unwillingly initially) due to circumstances that I shall not be going into.

Frieda Pintos character is introduced along this time as chimp vet and she develops into Franco love interest in the movie. Long story short the chimp Caesar who is nearly fully grown is impounded by the authorities and is a catalyst of a chimp revolt.

Am not going into the details of the movie as it really would serve as a spoiler to folks who would want to see the movie.

I strongly recommend seeing the movie. Let me expand on the reasons why- stellar special effects without the regular big explosions of a typical Hollywood movie, strong story line, very strong emotional connect with the audience( let me know what you feel when Caesar is ill treated by the authorities or when he is shown for the first time on screen as an infant), James Franco- excellent work again(mark my words and remember you read it here first-hes got'IT' and hes headed for SUPERstardom) and the fact that the ending will leave you wanting to see what happens next(always the hallmark of a good movie in my opinion).

Freida lovers- No great shakes here, shes got maybe 15 minutes of screen time tops.

Go for it guys.remember-Apes will Rise!
