Out of sheer laziness, I opted for the HIGH SPEED 1x NETCONNECT (LOL) datacard from Reliance, because its outlet was right next to my residence. For a moment, I forgot my past experiences of its mobile services, WLL services etc. Anywaz. the service is a joke. Whether I was in one location, or another, in Ranchi city, whether it was a working day or holiday, whether the weather was sunny or rainy(I understand all these factors are important in wireless services), whether it was night or day, I got a bandwidth of 0 - 5 Kbps, with sudden surges and frequent disconnections. Downloading just about anything was impossible. Chat etc. was out of question. As someone has pointed out, even Google took 10 - 15 seconds to load.
I had a post-paid connection and customer service was a bigger joke. Like many other companies, Reliance tries to avoid sending hard copies of bills(to save money on postal charges?), and insists on sending the same through e-mails. My efforts to get hard copies failed totally, my long mails to the company on issues of bandwidth and billing, invariably resulted in replies which had nothing to do with the original problem. So I decided to bid the great Reliance(Kar Lo Duniya Mutthi Mein) goodbye, after availing its services for about 5 months. Even terminating the services was a problem, and the company insisted that I 'talk it over' on the phone. Ultimately, I had to inform them that no further correspondence by e-mail or phone will be entertained and the connection may be terminated forthwith. And that was the end of a sad story.
Yeah, the USB modem, in black and red, looks cute. Unfortunately, it cannot be used, even as a paperweight. It is truly lightweight, LOL.
