I bought my monthly requirements from Reliance Mart , Vijayawada. Among several things I bought was One 100 gr Pouch of instant food. It is RELISH branch Spicy Peanuts. I bought this during the second week of July 2010. The pack was sold at a discount.
When I opened the pack I found the whole stuff, i.e., peanuts, stale and very old stuff. Then I checked the package. There is a make over slip pasted on the corner where the particulars of manufacturer, date of manufacture etc are printed on the package. The slip bore the name Reliance Mart. It says the the stuff there in is Packed on 2nd July, 2010. But just behind the pasted label, I find the original date of expiry printed by the maker of the product. The marking is "Best Before 4th July, 2010".
I think Reliance Mart in stead of discarding expired products is re labeling them with fresh dates and is trying to push off the goods at a discount. However I have not noticed the same phenomena with other products yet. This is my first visit to Reliance Mart at vijayawada.
