We were surprised to see a bunch of people waiting for the restaurant to open. When I asked one of the guests, when are the doors likely to open, he said "it would open at 6:45 am. For a moment I thought that was bang on. At 6:45, we saw a few more guests coming. So, the ones who came before us, decided to move in. We initially assumed that the restaurant owner had called those people inside. But, only when we went inside, we realised that they went in because they saw more guests approaching the restaurant. The restaurant has only 4 tables and can seat 16 people at a time.
The Restaurant(Mess) is about 30 years old and continues to maintain the same standard, space, format of serving breakfast. the menu is simple and small - Idli, Medhu Vada and Pongal with few chutneys and Sambar. At 6:55 am, a waiter started serving chutneys(3 varieties), Mulaga Puddi and Sambar. At 7:00 am sharp, the owner's brother who is the cook, started serving pongal just like how waiters serve at a wedding.
So, one does not have many options when it comes to variety.
