RDB is a huge success and is still in the process of breaking boxoffice records.

This movie really does deserve this kind of response. When I went for the movie the movie hall was 95% youth/college students, and I must say that movie did had a huge impact on us all and from a very vociferous bunch of audience who was booing and making all kinds of noises in movie hall did transpired into a well behaved audience.

I find numerous pluses for the movie, which has already been discussed here many times.

Let me mention here, Two scenes which was too difficult for me digest. This is my personal opinion only and comments are always welcome.

  1. Sidharth killing his father. They should have clearly done away with this scene, and still the impact would have been the same.

  2. Instead of taking over radio station. They should have easily broken the news by way of a press meet televised live. That would have been more convincing. This way they could have been able to convey their views in fullest to the nation. The blood shed at the end would have been clearly avoided.

Yes the director wants to surprise. But the film from the beginning to end was full of surprises, and if with out this bloodshed it would have become the biggest blockbuster ever in Hindi film Industry. An opportunity Lost.

I am now adding my response to MS member eagle_eye?s comments below, to my views posted above.

Thanks for your comments. Yes Jaalianwalabag is a case of unnecessary bloodshed. But there the british took that step without any provocation, a sheer act of autocracy and utter disregard to humanity. Even then, there were people in Britain very vociferously supporting the firing.

Those demonstrating in jaalianwala bag were the ones had assembled there peacefully, where as in RDB Ameer and friends had taken the route of violence. And the government authorities used this opportunity to eradicate all of them in the same coin. Actually the Ameer and friends in the last part of RDB, played right into the hands of bad elements in government establishment.

Of course, in the end of the movie it is shown that youth vowing not to let ameer and friends sacrifice to let go. But if you think in real life, gov: interpretation will always be they were terrorists, or at least had died while combating a terrorist like activity. And we all know what will happen to protests after sometime. But if ameer and friends had taken the route of live press meet, ameer and friends can actually deliver the message for a long time and more effectively.

It would have been far effective if they had chosen the path of declaring the news through a live press meet. In that case Gov: establishment can?t get the excuse for eradicating ameer and friends.

Now about siddharth, Of course sidharth want to make the point on double standards, and love for the country comes first. But for me it was far more than convincing to do such a heinous act. Well it is my view and everyone can keep his or her view. Sidharth father have of course done the wrong, but when he came for embracing sidharth, he was actually showing the love of a father to comfort his son. But the son uses the opportunity to shoot him at point blank. No father would imagine such an act from a son. See the expression of unsuspecting sidharths father, the time he felt the bullet piercing through him.

I am adding my response shubhomoy_simsr here since I thought I missed some points to be covered related to my review

Yes there is limitation of the medium. Although overall effort that movie tried to convey is good. The climax simply didn?t fit into the scheme of things. And it is my personal opinion.

About bringing conclusion, I think an open ending would be better, by way of Ameer and friends continuing to deliver the message even though they might be in prison. Even ameer and friends intention wasn?t becoming martyrs and they weren?t expecting such an ending. They simply underestimated the persons against whom they are fighting. They were only expecting themselves to get arrested after their announcement through radio. So who won actually?.

Of course there may be short-term trouble for the people in power. But how long would it last?. They would be forgotten heros and there can be even a debate whether they were actually martyrs or terrorists. Afterall media is actually in the hands of those in power and there are many power brokers in India. Do you think NDTV is impartial in real life?.

Now imagine the other situation where ameer and friends need to be produced in courts (many times). Imagine the media coverage and the resultant continuous delivering of the message they actually intended to convey.

Those in power pounced on the opportunity presented by ameer and friends immediately and they decided it is better to wipe them out, than to let them continued to be heard even though from prison, which would be very damaging for them in long run. But here because of the under-estimation of enemy?s strength by ameer and friends they weren?t able to do what they intended to do. They really did played into the hands of those bad elements in power

An opportunity lost.
