I recently traveled to Europe on a month long vacation package with Shree raj Travels, booked and bought at their Delhi office.
The name of the chosen package was Grand Europe 2006, which was for a period of 22 days, approx, and what ensued in these 22 days was nothing short of nightmarish.
The whole vacation was a saga of over promise and under delivery.
First, the company hounded us with calls regarding payment, even though the booking amount was paid. Once the full package cost was taken, the company did not bother to update us of the status of our papers/ visas etc. In fact, they shrug off all responsibility regarding the same, saying that in case we were denied one, the agency would not be able to help us and we would not even get a refund on our package cost!!
The deliverables of the package itself were hyped.
The food menu for all 22 days was the same-breakfast, lunch and dinner. The quality of food provided was pathetic, not too mention that families with kids had to survive on plain croissants and juice till lunch. Basics like egg/ meat were also not provided.
There were no porters for help with luggage and 70 year old senior citizens were expected to lug their bags around, without even trolleys...such were the hotel reservations. Though this might be the norm in Europe, it should certainly have been made clear, especially since some of the travellers were of significant age.
To top it all, my return flight from London to Delhi was booked for the wrong day, a day in advance to the commencement of the package. At first the agency refused to rectify their obvious mistake. Only after a plethora of calls and some show of anger did they figure this problem out.
4.The most shocking event was when an elderly lady was not allowed to get off the coach to visit the restroom. An entire coach-full of people were made to wait 2 hrs till they could releive themselves.
5.The tour conductor knew nothing about the places we were visiting and was least courteous and understanding.
She was caught making fun and ridiculing her tour passengers and country men /women with the european travelers...is that the kind of service/behaviour one would expect from a fellow countryman/professional??? Is Raj Travels and its tour guides doing us poor Indians a favour by taking us to Europe??
One whole item from the itinerary was not covered as we were not able to reach the destination on time because the driver was poor at following instructions and neither did he have any knowledge of routes. Whats more is that the company has not even bothered to offer a refund of the ticket to that particular palce of visit.
My experience has been most bitter and never in a million years would I ever recommend this company and its products& services to anyone.
