Looks like this is the year of common man in our Bollywood. If A Wednesday! and Aamir dealt with a common man and terrorism Rab Ne. has the king of romance offering us the ever prevalent love story of a common man of our society who is never really able to express his love.

The USP of Rab Ne. is it's simplicity apart from SRK and as a viewer you cherish them both. Probably that's the reason why YashRaj Films didn't go for any aggressive promotions as they might have foreseen the amazing response the movie was to generate. Adi Chopra's new girl is terrific for a first timer. She looks elegant and confident throughout. Vinay Pathak is first rate and plays a major role in making the movie enjoyable.

The movie starts off with a new Shahrukh. the simple common man, the underdog., leaving behind his larger than life roles coming home with a delicate looking beautiful girl. The marriage is a compromise and the jodi lookes really out of the world. All this while you start feeling a connect with Suri and his real life simplicity. Hats off to Mr.Khan for actually living the character. The initial interactions between Suri and Tani are very interseting and amongst the high points of the movie, especially the scene where he leaves his cell number on table and then keeps a rose aside it. and then puts it back.:). Add to that the soundtrack "Haule Haule" which is very well crafted into the scenes gets on the nerve of the viewer. The other songs are just okay and keep moving with the story. But the screenplay has a big flaw when Suri turns Raj. I feel this was a bit too much for cinematic liberty. How can a girl even for a moment not realise her husband with only a few changes here and there in his looks, and how can a girl that too in today's world understand the feelings of one man through the eyes of other! Comeon now, that's very vague. Anyways both Suri and Raj do look different characters and Mr.Khan has essayed both of them perfectly, but here comes the major problem. the part of Raj is too stretched. The film is good in parts and could have been easily trimmed off by 20 odd minutes. Amongst another high points of the movie is the pre-climax drama as well as the end credits with are equally interesting.

The cinematography is excellent but the writing is not convincing enough, especially in the second half. To sum up Adi Chopra has made a neat and clean desi entertainer which will ultimately be making good bucks but still, when can we see another masterpiece anywhere closer to DDLJ.?
