I have viewed ads and also posted some myself on Quikr.com, which has become popular over the years. However, like many other websites which dish out loads of info without their authenticity verified, so does Quikr.com. But, recently what shocked me more was Quikr.com itself indulges in malpractices which will only drive people away from it.
Yesterday, I had posted a job requirement for someone on Quikr.com and mentioned her profile in brief. Surprisingly, someone called me up supposedly from Quikr.com(01204532700) mentioning about the job requirement posting from my login yesterday. Not just that the person named Arjun went on to say that they have contacts with top MNC and Indian firms and will put me on to one such company for a telephonic interview right away, over a con-call. Sure enough, another person was on line in a couple of minutes asking all the standard questions, and after this was done, Arjun(from Quikr.com) came on line and said I need to pay Rs. 2300 for being interviewed and "offered" the job, and then the employing firm will send me a mail confirming my further hiring process.
The above experience has all the makings of a regular scam practiced by Quikr.com. It just seems to sift thru its own database to identify gullible job-seekers and such, whom it can exploit by enticing them to pay for non-existent services'. So, all those who go to Quikr.com for either posting information, or seeking info should be very careful what they post, as nothing in their database will escape their eye.
Am sure what Quikr.com practices is illegal as per IT Act 2000, but am not sure where I can complain about it to bring them to book. Hence, for now, I have posted my feedback on my nasty experience with them, to forewarn others who may be lured into their malpractices.
