Puri is a coastal city situated about 100 kilometres from Bhubaneshwar, the capital of Orissa. Puri is considered to be one of the Dhams of the Chardham and a visit to Puri would be incomplete without visiting the temple of Lord Jagannath.
Everyday there is Chappan bhog being put up in the temple and the best time to visit Puri is definitely during the renounced Rath Yatra.
I visited Puri 3 years back with my family and it was a wonderful experience. There's a whole lot in store in the local market and it is really great for buying clothes which are reasonably priced. Also Puri is like a centre point for travelling to the famous Konark(Sun) temple and also to the Chilika lake.
Chilika lake was really amazing as we saw the famous Gangetic dolphins playing around there.
Bhubaneshwar really felt like a city of temples. A must try is the traditional cuisine of Orissa and also the prasad given to the devotees of Lord Jagannath. Don't miss out on the famous handicrafts and artwork created by shells which are great Souvenirs for gifting your friends and family.
On the whole it was a great experience and I'd definitely want to visit Orissa again.
