Of all the new and latest, hip and hop, talented and non-talented stars that I detest most in Bollywood - Priyanka Chopra would be crowned the queen of them all. She would be, in my opinion, crowned the Don of Disaster of the film industry, the Mistress of Misacting in Bollywood, as well as as the Most Rotten Crying-Star of this age. And even that's putting it lightly.

Priyanka Chopra, in 2000 became the first-runner up in the Miss India contest, and was not, as many believe crowned Miss India. From thereon she continued to the Miss World Contest - when disaster hit me and she won the crown.

I was exceedingly startled. She's pretty - mind, I don't take that away from her, although not startlingly beautiful or attractive, an opinion which I'll leave my male counterparts to decide upon. However in the vital areas of charm, wit and intelligence that the contest usually demands from the contestants were glaringly absent in Chopra's case. For example, when asked which living woman she considers most successful, she pulled herself to her full height (5'8'') and declared ''Mother Teresa'' and gave an explanation reminiscent of Sushmita Sen's in 1994. Which was all very well for Sushmita Sen, but pretty rotten of Priyanka Chopra to not even notice when her icon (and the icon of many more) had tragically passed away. In addition, she claimed that Jamshedpur was in West India, when she had spent a good portion of her life there. (Jamshedpur just so happens to be in East India). However, did that deter from her being crowned? No? Why though?

After achieving this massive feat, Chopra planned to showcase her talents in the limelight where many models before her had planned to showcase theirs - the Big Stage of Bollywood. And where, I believe, till date, she's been the biggest failure.

I've had the bad luck of sitting through three movies that have starred Chopra - Blackmail, Mujshe Shaadi Karogi and Waqt. Of the three, I couldn't decide where Chopra had done the most injustice to her role.

In Blackmail she was cringing woman, playing the role of the lovable wife and the devoted mother. However, when disaster hit her household and her adopted son was kidnapped she kept playing the role of the devoted mother by fluently changing her clothes, makeup, jewellery and hairstyle. A different approach to the role of motherhood, maybe, but definately not to my taste.

In Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, a typically third-rate comedy, our own delightfully joyous Priyanka appears as a bimbo-type woman who wears her heart on her sleeve judging by the way she switches her fancies. Who knew she had it in her to play the despicably superficial and stereotypical role to perfection?

Surprisingly (is it?) in the third film, Waqt - A Race With Time, she again shows that she is a mine of talent, by mixing up the roles she played in Blackmail and in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi. Well, not perhaps to the same storyline, but she did blush coyingly when her blouse strings were opened by Akhshaye Kumar (reminiscent of her blushing in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi when presented a rose by the same actor) and crying her eyes out, striving for the well-being of her husband and unborn child (reminds one of the way she cried for her son in Blackmail). Of course, in both scenarios, Chopra managed to keep up with her everchanging clothes, makeup, jewellery and makeup.

Ahem - no. I do not like Priyanka Chopra. She gets on my nerves and she makes me avoid every single movie in which she retains even a scene-long role. Under my consideration she should switch professions - perhaps to the criminal psychiatrist or engineer she once wanted to be? Or may I suggest something that means involving herself in either a study of Indian geography or writing a biography on Mother Teresa?
