I bough this prestige 3 burner glass top stove on 22/08/2010 for Rs.5000. Worst thing happened on 07/01/2011(after 4 months); I put 2 bananas to boil and was watching TV in another room, suddenly heard a glass breaking sound.


I jumped into kitchen and my feet got hurt with glass pieces because I didn't wear a chappal. It was heartbreaking to see entire glass top has broken into pieces. I touched the glass but it was hotter to even keep my hands for 1-2 seconds.


I rushed to the dealer and they guided me to the service center. I called service centre and they agreed to send a person to check the issue. One guy came on 08/01/11 and inspected the stove.


His finding was so crazy, he said someone hit the glass and it's broken. We had a big argument and he understood what was happened exactly. I asked him to demonstrate how it had happened, if I had hit the stove. Position of keeping stove was very unique and nobody can hit it or nothing can fall on top of that.


I am 100% sure that its broken with heat. Then finally he said he is not the right person and has no right to approve the warranty. He requested me to take this stove to his office at Lalbagh road and show that to his manager. Finally I have decided to do that.


On 10/01/11, I traveled almost 20 KM and reached prestige service centre. After 15 min waiting manager has come and invited me to his seat. His name is Mr. Rahul, He is Area Service Manager. He started asking me few stupid questions "how long have you been using your watch?" "why it's not broken yet"....His point was "a glass never break unless someone hit it with hard object".


I asked him "why it is mentioned on the handbook as toughened glass". His answer was too funny "It can break even a 5gm or 10gm object fall into that glass"..He also told me glass will heat along with the burnor. I never seen such a stupid guy in my life. His conclusion was simple "I will resolve your issue if you pay me Rs.1750 as glass replacement charge".


What heck it is...I asked him to show the statement written "there is no warranty for glass". Nowhere it is mentioned. Prestige is ultimately cheating the customers with such a crap product.


I informed him clearly its not worth to replace the glass with Rs.1750 because of 2 reasons:




  1. No guarantee for replacing glass.




  2. If you put Rs.1750 and exchange this cr@p stove, you will get a good 3 burner steel stove.






When I told this to Mr. Rahul, he asked me to go ahead with that. What a crappy service manager he is.


I have decided to put a complaint with consumer court against these cheaters. Moreover NO PRESTIGE products in my life...


I have requested him to give me a letter stating "no warranty for glass" but he was not ready for that too.
