Music Review of a Kannada movie ''Praana'' released in 2004.
This is a Rock based album that has music by Bangalore Rocker - ''Allwyn Fernandes''
Praana - is fresh and unique, filled with youthful, energetic music by renowned guitarist: Allwyn Fernandes. He has played for various rock bands in bangalore, including Antaragni and Sandeep Chowta's band. Allwyn also plays guitar in every Gurukiran (the current top music director in Kannada Film Music) album since the chartbuster ''A'' (1998).
Muttu Kottu beLLi chukki, the opening track, is sung by Shilpa Fernandes, has very interesting guitar bits and beats in the interlude. The English version of the same song - ''My Heart beats for you'' by Sunitha Sarathy is equally good.
Hariharan's Prema nannolave has a lot of variations and Hariharan is at his best. Almost every song has nice guitar bits, that is unique to Kannada film music.
Idu enidenidu, is a nice duet by Rajesh and Sowmya, very off-beat, irregular compisition, where singing and the beats go in parallel. This is certainly the best song of the album.
Pyar to hua - is another fast paced song by a group of female vocals - Ganga Keeravani, Febi, Noel and has some naughty lines in Kannada mixed with Hindi.Chaska Maska hudugiyaru sung by Gurukiranwho has also helped his buddy Allwyn arrange the music, is rock all the way, with electric guitar playing in the entire song. These two songs sound great if you chose to ignore the lyrics :)
The music bits spirit of Praana go well with the mood of the album. The only drawback is the use of commentary prior to every song and dialogues from the movie. Probably, the audio company should release a songs only version of this album.
