This is an opinion about Pizza Hut in the United Kingdom. I know they exist in other countries but I must confess that I have never been in any.

Pizza Hut is both an eat in and takeaway restaurant, in the United Kingdom. They have an assortment of special offers every week. It is ideally positioned for(close to or in towns) office workers, tourists and students and is reasonably priced. With large parties booking is advised but the group of fifteen that I went with had no problems being accommodated

I tend so use Pizza Hut as it offers great value for money, along with the restaurants being clean and well designed with ample room for disabled customers. Before I start, I would like to mention that I have never been able to get NUS (student) discount in any of the Pizza Hut restaurants. Please let me know if anyone has been able to get any form of discount, other than when mistakes occur!

Lunch-times probably provide the best value for money with the very popular ‘all you can eat’ Lunchtime Buffet for £4.99 (Monday to Fridays only). The selection includes choices of many slices of different pizzas, choice of two pastas (meat and vegetarian), and the salad bar plus of course garlic bread sticks. There may sound like a lot of food but the reality is somewhat different. The pizza is snapped up quickly and there is often a long wait for fresh pizzas to arrive, thus a long time is needed to eat lunch by this choice, from the menu.

From the regular menu there is a variety of starters to choose from. My favourite is plain garlic bread, then there is cheese topping also available. Starter also include a bowl salad or potato skins to name but are plenty more to choice from the menu.

But Pizza Hut is famous for pizzas and pizzas it has plenty of! There is a wide selection of pizza bases to choose from before considering the toppings.

Pizza Base

Thin and Crispy

Deep pan,

The twisted crust pizza (having a large twisted crust ideal to twist off and dip in a sauce).

The Edge pizza (having a lot more toppings than usual and no crust).

Warning

The stuffed crust and twisted edge only come in a large size which is to feed 3 to 4 people, so choosing the toppings may prove to be a problem.

The cheapest pizza available is an individual Margarita for £3.99, whilst the most expensive a large twisted or stuffed crust Super Supreme costs £14.19. There are also ready made Pizza too, from Hawaiian, meat feast, vegetable supreme or you can create your own pizza adding toppings to a plain cheese and tomato (margarita) pizza. I often ask for strange of food combinations on my pizza, and always without cheese. Sometimes my request is questioned but I am never denied it. I have visited Pizza Hut quiet a few times over the past 12 months and have never experienced a problem, which has warranted a formal complaint that is except the day that that I ordered a vegetarian pizza with no cheese or mushrooms and it arrived with both. The manager was also annoyed as she place the order and yet her instructions were ignored as a result I got my meal free of charge when the correct pizza eventually arrived!

If I feel like being healthy then there is a great salad bar with a wide selection of cold dishes, from the green salad, pasta salad, potato salad plus plenty of raw vegetables and fruit. Like the pizza, the salad can be ordered in different sizes.

Children are not forgotten. They have their own menu, plus are given activity sets with their meal. This often keeps them amused but I really hate it when parents let their children run around the restaurant. It is dangerous as the waiter carry very hot dishes and it is only time before a nasty accident will occur.

An ice cream factory is available for all children (even the young at heart, but old in years), once the main course is finished, of course. Costing just £2.50 per adult and £1.50 per child, there is an unlimited supply of ice cream and toppings are there for the choosing. There are other deserts available, but some are not suitable for vegetarians. Please read the small print.

The drinks are not over priced either but they do put a lot of ice in the glass, even in winter. (Too cold for me!)

The waiters are usually fast and friendly. Pizza hut is reasonably priced and excellent value for money. One tip though, this chain is franchised so check to see how many people are eating in the store and what the food looks like on the table. You may not like what you see. Not all chefs are good cooks.

NB:The title comes from a Girl Guide song often sung in England.
