Pizza Hut is, by no means, the best place to get a pizza. I believe that's pretty well-known, but I fell it necessary to mention that because of the high rating I'm giving the place.

My rating is based entirely on value. The pizza here, while not the best, is darn tasty and priced right (a family of four can eat for around $20-$25 U.S., and that includes a couple of, errr, adult beverages for ol' Daddy Man here). Furthermore, there's a pretty good selection in terms of specialty pizza, crust and the like.

While Pizza Hut does serve spaghetti and some other Italian dishes, I don't know anything about them. As far as I'm concerned, going to a restaurant called ''Pizza Hut'' and ordering a bunch of spaghetti is rather like going to a Ford lot and asking to test drive a Chevrolet or Chrysler. I've never gotten anything but pizza at this restaurant, and I doubt I ever will.

So, speaking of pizza, you've got your traditional selection of toppings -- pepperoni, mushrooms, Canadian bacon, pineapple, Italian sausage and the like. There's also a variety of crusts available -- thin, hand-tossed (which is kind of medium in thickness) and deep dish. While thin and hand-tossed crust are pretty darn good, the deep dish stuff is just awful. Well, if you like pizza served on a piece of toasted bread, perhaps you'll enjoy the deep dish stuff. That crust is just thick, nasty and just a bit too ''wet'' for my liking. Ick.

And, you have a variety of specialty pizzas available. Stuffed crust pizza has a ring of cheese on the inside of the crust, while you've got some pizzas with a scad of pepperoni, all the available meets or ones made for vegetable lovers and some other types out there. The point is, you can find something your family will like, and ingredients can even be ''divided'' (for example, a pizza could be half, say, mushroom and pepperoni while the other half is pineapple and Canadian bacon).

The ingredients are fresh enough for my liking, the pizza is served hot and the beer is served cold like God intended. That's enough to keep me coming back.

Now, there are some drawbacks to Pizza Hut. First of all, you can get fresher, better quality ingredients at other pizza places. Second, the service at every Pizza Hut I've ever been to is rather slow. And, finally, Pizza Hut restaurants seem to attract a lot of kids. Now, I'm not talking about a family with a couple of kids here. I'm talking about whole youth soccer teams and the like being taken to Pizza Hut after a game. Naturally, the youths run around and cause all sorts of trouble when in a highly-concentrated group with limited adult supervision. That can be annoying.

In spite of the slow service, the quality of the food and the risk of walking into a noisy Pizza Hut, I enjoy the place. The wait there is never that long and the food there is of better quality than the pizza places that only deliver. However, if you want pizza delivered to your home, Pizza Hut does that, too.

Oh, and I've never really seen a Pizza Hut that was too crowded to force my family to wait for a table (well, there's only my Wife, our two kids and me, so perhaps things would be more difficult for a larger group). As for the decor, it's rather dark and features a bunch of those red and white, checkered tablecloths.
