If you live in East Delhi chances are that you would have visited East Delhi Mall in fromt of Ananad vihar bus depot. Just as you enter the mall the parking attendant is often flanked by a Papa John Pizza attendant who will hand you out a colorful menu offering a lot of freebies.Be warned this is a enticement as the freebies are only for take aways. If.If you go in the restaurant any number of orders dont get you any freebies.
We discovered this and other shocking things when we went to dine in the restaurant on the Sunday of 25th July. We noticed that the manager standing behind the counter was yawning away to glory and that half the restaurant was closed.In the other half too there were hardly 20 customers and that too at the peak dinner hour. We ordered two thin crust pizzas and garlic bread.
One was a large family pizza and Theodore a medium paneer tandoori. The pizzas arivedafter taking their own sweet time and when I saw them I knew that they had taken the thin crust too ar.In fact the crust was overbaked and the edges were clearly biscuity. We were so hungry by then that we devoured the pizzas asap and realised that they were not enough so we ordered another medium pizza. In between we had to repeatedly call to the waiters to fill our glasses with water . I had asked for normal water but was offered chilled water ore than once and had to tell the staff that my throat was unwell.
I had to ask for all the seasonings like mustard sauce ( soggy and off ) and the oregano and Italian seasoning ( which was also substandard). Their menu says that they are supposed to give you free two pieces of some special chilli and a garlic sauce free at a certain ordering level. Needless to say that this never arrived ( and I didnt really ask for the freebies to be delivered).Anyway the second pizza came real late and was finished in a jiffy.By that time we were in no mood to ask for more.
But what took the cake was the fact that when the bill came I was given three rupees short of the amount as change. I was livid and went up to the manager to confront him .The manager -one Mr.Kher -aplogiesd and said he forgot the change.How can he forget when there are big computers in front of him that tell him the exact change.
I did fill in the feedback form but I wonder if this will reach the people who count . Anyway all in all we had a miserable and grossly overpriced (our bill for three pizzas 1100) outlet .The customer service was non existent and the food average.
