Charming sweet movie, set in rural Indian village in Rajasthan where newly married bride Lachchi(Rani Mukherjee) gets married to Kisan (Shahrukh Khan) who comes from an affluent business family. On the way back to the house, a ghost falls in love with Lachchi. As soon as Kisan leaves for expanding his business ventures at the strict instructions of scrooge like father, Bhanwarlal(Anupam Kher) to Jamnagar, the ghost appears in the form of Kisan and confesses his love to Lachchi. Lachchi instantly falls in love as she knows her husband wont be back for another 5 years. The Paheli (Riddle or Doubt in this case) occurs when Lachchi gets pregnant and the real Kisan comes back. An orthodox village are now want the real Kisan to emerge. Cliché yet charming movie which is nothing short of a fairy tale with wonderful performances by everyone. This movie proves that you don’t need to shoot in foreign locations or make the usual Song Dance Drama or even add soft porn to sell a movie. You need a heart to make a good movie which Amol Palekar has done, period. A must watch for Shahrukh Khan and Rani Mukherjee Fans. Impressive Cameos by Juhi Chawla, Sunil Shetty and Amitabh Bachchan. Good Cinematography by Ravi Chandran and wonderfully supported by Dilip Prabhavalkar and Neena Kulkarni.

Oops
1) Assuming this film is based in India long long time ago, probably from the culture shown, it must be in the 16th or the 15th century, how come we have Rani Mukherjee wearing hair pins?
