Let the Truth be told at the very beginning;

My opinion would be a biased one coz I've been dying to go for a Rohtant-Spiti-Lahaul jeep safari for the last 2 years but haven't been able to find the time to do it.....so As soon as I got to hear that the film was shot in Kaza, Spiti, I rushed to the nearest cineplex to get the tickets..... And of course, the added attraction were the Paapi scenes that I had expected from the movie;-)

Beginning: An awesome beginning with the brilliant & haunting track intezaar playing in the background and Udita Goswami swimming in a lovely lake in a lovelier dress;-) against a barren & rugged backdrop of mountains.......The cinematographer has done an excellent job through the movie. By The way the heroine starts lip-synching to the song later taking away half of the effect of the song....when'll our filmmakers learn that songs playin in the backgrnd w/o the characters lip-synchin 2 it foolishly often carry a stronger impact)

The story then moves on to show how Udita's father is a guy thoroughly disgruntled with modern life who has decided to focus his life on spirituality and how he wants his daughter to follow the same path....They stay in the town of Kaza close to A buddhist monastery....Kaaya (Udita's) dad wants her to join the monastery.......Kaaya is keen to follow her father's wish but her inner self keeps prodding her to fly high and soar above the skies, bask in the glory of love etc etc (Oki,okie, I am not a great poet so lemme better stay away from this style of writing)

Now the Monastery's Rimpoche had a dream/some sort of revelation that the Monastery head has been reincarnated as a kid in Delhi....so Kaaya's entrusted by the Rimpoche with the task of gettin the Kid safely back to the monastery ..... (Beautiful Cinematography all the While)

So Kaaya comes over to Delhi wheer things go horribly wrong when the Kid sees a murder being committed by two guys in a Hotel Loo....

Shiven (John Abraham) siscovers with the aide of the kid that the perpetratoe of the crime is a senior police off., things keep gettin messier till Shiven has to rush off to Kaaya's hometown with her & the kid in tow to bring them home safely...By the time he reaches Kaza (the drive frm Delhi 2 Spiti is an overdramatized but BEAUTIFUL sequence with the Sufi-Fusion no Garaj Baras playin in the backgrnd and a shot Shiven runnin against time to bring the gal and the kid to the safety of their home)

So by the time Shiven reaches, he is badly injured and ther's no way he can go back 2 Del so he has to stay (I'm sic of typin now) at Kaaya's place till he heals..Though Kaay and Shievn have diametrically opposite philosophies, they develop a strong attraction twards each other....(Kudos to Ms Bhatt for showin that Lust can mark the beginning of long lasting love)

The rest of the movie then shws Kaaya's inner tussle, Towards the end, the villains make their entry for the customary climax scene wheer Shiven ends up killin two and the last one has a change of heart;-) (Can't avoid cliches, Can we!!)

Hmmmm, Now for the verdict....

Excellent:for the briilliant cinematography & music & the fact that this was shot in the Spiti valley (the last 1 is a purely personal quirk, this doesn't translate into a pro for the rest of the ppl reading it)

Good for the taut screenplay, fresh treatment and avoidance of cliches (welll at least most of em)

Fairfor the acting though the Kid sure packs a punch, Udita and John don't disappoint either

Poor for some loose ends
