That Sidney Sheldon is a master story teller, everyone knows. I have read every book he has written many, many times. But my favorite will always be ?The other side of midnight?.

The characters are so real that once you will read the book, you will feel that it has to be a true story. Surely we all know an amazingly handsome, reckless, popular guy who seems like he has all the luck (Larry Douglas). And we all have come across that beautiful, arrogant ice maiden who tries to rule the world through her liaisons with powerful men (Noelle Page). And what about that famous business tycoon who has a trail of mistresses (Constatin Demiris). And finally, in almost every school, there is that shy, intelligent girl who believes that being sincere and hard working is the only way to get about in life (Catherine Douglas).

1.Larry Douglas : the outrageously handsome, magnetic man and an ace pilot who could get any woman he wanted. He had an amazing zest for life and an equally powerful need to constantly take risks. He will never fail to surprise you throughout this book. But towards the end, you start seeing a pattern in his behavior. He is careless about life, like a child with a toy that easily yields itself to him whenever he wishes. He uses beautiful girls, discards them and forgets about them till he meets Noelle Page, the woman who never forgets.

2.Noelle Page : The unbelievably beautiful lady whose heart beats only for Larry Douglas. She is a human enigma who is understood by nobody. Her mind works in strange ways but all along, she has only one goal in life, to be with Larry who does not even know that she exists. A fleeting affair that is so easily forgotten by him changes the course of her life forever. Though she goes on to live with many men, none of them really seem to know her at all, except for one, Constatin Demiris.

3.Constatin Demiris: The business tycoon, to whom power comes easily. He is shrewd, manipulative and a winner. He never forgets any kindness, nor does he forget any slight. He believes in repaying back in the same coin and he has enormous power to do so. He looks at people as pawns, to move about as he wishes. The only person he shows some compassion to is Catherine Douglas.

4.Catherine Douglas: The bright, intelligent all-American girl with dreams in her heart and stars in her eyes. While her stable, down to earth nature tells her to settle down with the stable Bill Fraser, the wanderlust in her heart propels her in Larry?s arms. On a sudden impulse, she runs away with Larry to get married to him and that one impulsive gesture of hers begins a chain of events that rocks the steady lives of four people and causes the death of two.

The book is fast paced and once you begin reading, it will be very hard to put it down. One thing?s for sure, once you read it, you will feel like reading it again and again.
