I recently bot a second hand Opel Astra.. I must say m impressed by the car.. the previous owner of the car had maintained pretty well although it had some issues. I did have to spend some cash on it.. but then I felt it was worth. the car has pretty good space inside the cabin n the boot also is quite adequate. the rear seat I can say is the best among-st the vehicles I have traveled so far. really comfy.
The suspension is good. the car had scraped undernath on the bumps quite a few times when it was fully loaded. thts 5 members. so I had to put a pair of spacers to the rear suspension. Now car is really good. no issues with the handling of the car although the power steering is slightly over wieghted. but feels confident on highways. The in cabin lighting is one of the many things I love about the car n its got chilled glove box. n a light in it too.. quite helpful during night. I had heard this car fuel efficiency was really poo. n I jus discovered it was wrong.. my car has the first or second gen single point fuel injection 75bhp petrol engine.. it returns around 12-13 in city of Mysore without ac n drops to 11-12kmpl in bangalore due to the traffic. i have LPG kit fit on my car. there isn performance diff in petrol n LPG. (NOTE:- the performance of a car running on LPG doesnt solely depend on the LPG Kit. it also depends on the way its fit. so I advice u to get it done at a person who is really good at it or else ul screw ur car. which ever car it is.) the car revvs very freely n can bring out the sporty side of u.. although its jus 75bhp. u can drag her in ang gear to the limits n she wont complain. n I jus love tht. car looks lovely. the comfort levels are really good.. there are three major issues with this car( this is wat I feel)
Spares are difficult to find. but then spares do come for a long time. spares are costly too
The brakes arent sharp. n can lead to panicking at high speed barking.(i.e compare to present day cars)
The headlamp spread reach n intensity is really bad on highways. city its manageable.
but then its something u have to live with. summing it all. Maintenance is high. All I can say is this car is value for money for those who love it.
