Big mistake I made while selecting Onida AC was going on the words of my friend. I had not seen the machine anywhere installed but still because my friend recommended I went for it. My misery starts now.I bought 2 Ton split as replacement to window unit in Feb,06 to avail benefit of union budget.To install the unit it took 4 days as the procedure is that dealer informs company & than it is installed. The unit installed inside was not installed properly , the people who had come to installed had not brought proper equipments & so my wall was totally messed up. The machine was making lot of noise.Engineers from company explained that the noise is of high flow of air.Finally they agreed & the unit was reinstalled,again messing up my wall. Everytime engineers repairing the unit made the front door lock break & so the noise started ,apart from the shabby look. The front unit was replaced. Now it was louvers' turn. Rotation of louvers failed.Engineers came repaired it but with that a small part of it was broken. Still the noise problem was persistent. Several communication with Mumbai office as local office people were not keen to come & solve the problem,they agreed to replace the indoor unit. But the models have been changed,so from some office they found the old style unit & I was requested to check it in there godown before deliverying. At godown seeing a unit without power(working) is like getting smell of rose from the movie on TV Screen. They started the unit on my pressurising them,but in godown with all types of noises it was impossible to know the noise(sound) of the fan.But I could see that the problem cannot be solved like this. Again heavy communication with Mumbai they agreed to replace the total machine.I wanted to see the new unit before the installation ,but two months have gone they have not found a single unit of 2 Ton Split installed in Ahmedabad. 2 units shown (!) to me were not in working condition,I can again see only the beauty of it but could not feel it. The company suggests to see 1.5ton machine & decide on 2 ton machine,like seeing mother to decide about the daughter for the marriage. Meanwhile the remote is not behaving well in my AC but I am patienly awaiting a positive response.
The tragedy is everytime we start the unit at night,my wife looks at me & says what a blunder you have done by selecting this(I had not taken her view while selecting the Onida machine).She blames me & I have to accept my mistake of selecting such a lousy machine.
