So what does it take a popular band to satisfy its fans with a new album? Howzabout a collection of their best hits, some live numbers, a few cover versions, a practice take and a dedication to its fans!! I've known Third Day for years now and had resigned myself into listening to their songs featured in the Wow series - enough to whet my appetite. And then as if to satisfy my craving an album popped into the christian bookstore - the first album of TD I'd seen in India. Soon it was in my 80 watt boombox and many months later mouthshut hosts my thoughts.

'Offerings - A Worship Experience' is an answer to TD fans' request for a different album. Its more than just a compilation. The theme of worship is rarely attacked by rock bands and TD does a good job at it. The theme is exciting and the music and mood are cool. There are a series of songs that trackes their career from their early years and then plenty of live action and some cover versions! The album is not TD's hardest rocking and there's a soft mellow rock running through most of the album. The album kicks off with King of Glory - featured in Wow 2001. A simple praise number with a simple answer to the question Who is this King of Glory!! (His name is Jesus!!) Pretty nice way to start off. Sets the mood and the theme in place. The best part of the album is a collection of live numbers scattered through the album. Starts off with song no.

  1. Your Love Oh Lordis a quiet song that sets a good standard. The quality of music is amazing in the live numbers. Vocals and music blend in well. The best examples are probably Agnus Dei where the guitar works are great and My Hope Is You where Mac really gets the audience to sing along, The most rocking moment in the album is Consuming Fire. Mac starts off 1,2,3,4,5,6. Then the guitars roar in, the audience screams and the whole place rocks!! Its a mesmerizing hard rock number that kicks adrenaline!! The album keeps you engrossed with rapid changes in mood. For example Agnus Dei builds up to some screaching guitars and then suddenly drops into Worthy with soft guitars and vocals. Consuming Fire rocks to an end and out of this emerges All The Heavens- a beautiful blend of guitar plucking and soft vocals that is an intricate piece of musical art! Third Day also perform These Thousand Hillswritten by fellow Atlanta band Jacob's Trouble. It has the feel of a hymn and is guitar based A cool combination!. Agnus Dei is actually a Michael W Smith number (Although this versio is pretty much different!!) If that weren't enough cover versions.... there's actually a Bob Dillon number. Saved has the 80s feel and is a brilliant rendition of the Bob Dillon original complete with great keyboards backing vocals and guitars. TD has also thrown in a studio practice take of You're Everywhere. The practice feel of this song including the guitar jig before the song. Offers an insight into their practice sessions!! Somewhere in the middle of the collection is Thief. Although not a worship number it kinda blends in it.

The album closes with Love Song, a quiet intimate number. This is apparently TD's most requested number. The audience almost sings along!! Its a beautiful way to end the album and the tune rang in my mind hours after the tape clicked to a stop. So who needs this album? 1. If you're a TD fan you need it - its a collectors item! 2. If you don't know TD you need this. It offers a great glimpse into the lives of these nice guys! 3. If you're a music fan you need this. It rocks!! What did I do to show the world I luv this album 1. I bought another copy for my sister on her birthday 2. I featured TD as the Featured Band on my website 3. I wrote this review! Its tough to put all of TD into one album. This album is just a glimpse! Get it!!
