QD'ed !!. Review on Nokia N-Gage QD

Now if you’ve heard a lot of reviews saying the Ngage is a bad phone, with lots of known issues, IT ISNT ! Ive had the phone for over a year, and by far it is the best phone ive had...

The Nokia Ngage QD is basically a phone with gaming capabilities, better graphics engine , and a louder speaker, and so on.It runs Symbian 6.5, while 6600 and so on run symbian OS 7, but a lot of applications run on the ngage as well. it is the cheapest phone in the s60 platform at 7,200rs while the next cheapest is the Nokia 6600 at 11,000rs.

It doesnt have a camera and runs on 4096 colours and a mono speaker, unlike its predecessor the Ngage which had a stereo speaker and a built in MP3 player..

At first buy one might think you dont get much with the phone, but may I say this, with the insane amount of apps that u get for the phone, u can make it as good as a 6600 !

some problems people have had and how they can be solved :

1.MP3 player : the Ngage doesnt have a built in mp3 player, no worry ! apps like UltraMP3 player can be downloaded off the net that can play mp3’s exceptionally on the ngage.

2.Themes : unlike the 6600, the QD doesnt have built in themes, but you can get apps such as SmartLauncher, or get FreakSysIcons if your battery councious..

3.mp3 ringtones : the QD has support for MIDI n WAV ringtones, but with some carefully downloaded apps, can play MP3 ringtones as well :D

4.voice recorder : People say the voice recorder built-in on the Ngage is mediocre and records a lot of disturbance..for them, download PowerDictaphone, which can record for more then a Minute, with quite good recording quality.

5.Backup:for those who are afraid that the QD might crash and their data be lost, download s60Backup..which backs up everything on the phone to your computer..

1. Vidoes: if u arent happy with the video player on the nagge, get PVPlayer, or Smartmovie for AVI’s (with a XviD Codec) to play almost anytype opf video files on ur phone !

7.Palletes : Instead of themes, the QD has pallettes, which are red,Orange, and Magenta, if u want more, download Pextender..which give u around 12 more pallettes !

8 PDFs : u can even get a program to read PDF’s on the ngage ! called PDF+, it can read non picture PDF’s with an enlarged font to make ur phone a Ebook reader !

1. Keylock : some people werent happy with the fact that ngage didnt have a auto times keylock, well for them, JJL Keylock is the best solution, you can choose the amount of seconds after which the phone will automatically lock (which can be a pain while playing games though!)

   
   




2. Players : Flash, Realone, and other such players are also available to play all kinds of media on the ngage..

   
   




3. SMSSaving : people just hate it when they cant store all the messages they recieve on the QD beacause of its meagre 3.4mb storage..u get an app on the net that automatically saves all messages recieved on MMC card, all u need to do is look on the net for a bit and not put up hate reviews here..

   
   

for all those people who had the rubber side panel coming off, its easy to get a replacement that is good or even better for 100rs or so..

All in all, with all the stuff u should buy, the ngage should cost u arround 9-9.2k

The phone (7.2-.75) + a 256MB Memory card ( 1.2k ) + a card reader ( 400-500rs)

i think its completely worth it, and I think the ngage is a complete phone, I mean CMON , the 3230 crashes more then the ngage does !! Just a 17 year olds view ^_^
