I bought this Nokia about 4-5 months ago. Exchanged my old Motorola for this. Now I wonder if I can get my old phone back.

On the upside, the PC Sync works. I sync it up with Lotus Notes and the calendar and reminders get synced up quite well. The phone has a good reception and average battery life.

The E50 has a bug due to which the phone hangs very frequently. When the phone rings, I press the green answer button and the phone goes directly into loudspeaker mode and none of the buttons work. The screen and the phone remain frozen even after the call. The only solution to this is to remove the battery and insert it again.

This problem has been well discussed and documented,  https://google.com/search?hl=en&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&q=e50+loud

This is a major irritant on this phone. To make things worse, you can never reproduce the bug when you want and it happens randomly. There is no solution to this, so if you are planning on this phone, make sure you practice opening the battery cover and recycling the phone through a battery reset.

Another problem is that the phone doesnt have an automatic keypad lock. You have to do this manually.

For those who use the alarm feature on the phone, get ready to setup the alarm every day. This phone doesnt have a repeat alarm feature. You HAVE to setup the alarm for every instance. If you use the phone for your daily wakeup, you need to set the alarm every day(or night).

This is not a very reliable phone. I had to use the phone during a very slight drizzle and the keypad started misbehaving. I couldnt use the keypad at all for a couple of days.

Forget surfing the web or using any of the media features, its just too slow, and the screen is too small to do anything meaningful. But of course this is not a phone thats designed to be a media workstation.

On the whole this is nota phone that gives you a lot of confidence. Overall a buggy phone with a lot of simple but very useful features missing. You wouldnt know it until you start using the phone. I look forward to speed, stability and reliability from a phone. E50 is definitely not a one that has any of these characteristics.

I was told that a lot is wrong with Nokia cellphones these days. Wonder what happened to'Human Technology' that was the focal point of Nokia's strategy a couple of years ago.
