Review : Well,well..........well, is it ''No-kia'' or ''Kyo-kia''? So here comes another ''number juggled phone'' from Nokia the Finland based world's largest mobile phone manufacturer. The all new Nokia 6230 is just like an 'old wine in a new bottle'.

As we know that every coin has two faces, similarly the 6230 also has two face, one positive and one negetive. Lets start with positive aspect first.

Looks:-

Well as far as the looks department is concerned, it depends from person to person depending on personnel likings. According to me 6230 looks great but lacks that killer looks of Nokia 7610. Probably the company has targated this phone at young executives and young CEO's who want their phone to look like a 'sober-new age' gizmo. But overall looks of the phone is good.

Therefore, rating on the looks:-

Keypad Placement:-

Nokia is always famous for the innovation in their keypads, every now and then they come with a phone with a keypad which is always different from the lot. This legacy continues with 6230 too. The phone boasts a group of 16 keys on its body. The ' * ' and ' # ' keys represent the shape of a small horse-shoe magnet with a wide cavity in between, the array of centre keys i.e. 2,5,8,0 docks itself between this cavity. By doing this type of keypad arrangements, the centre keys(2,5,8,0) are big enough to operate but the neighbouring(1,3,4,6,7,9) keys are small which'll prove inconvinient to the person having big fingers. Besides that it has has 2 menu keys, one call answer key,one call reject key and a square shaped 4-way navigation key. The sensitivity of the keys are good and feather touch. And in the dark they are easily visible with the help of backlight.

Therefore, rating on keypad:-

Display:-

The Nokia 6230 is one of few mobile phones from the Nokia stable to boast 65k TFT screen, rest you'll find supporting 4096 colours only(including the gamer's gizmo ''Nokia N-Gage QD''). Nokia 6230's screen is crisp and sharp and is delight to watch. Even in bright sun shine you will be able to see the display with slight blurring. Its on-screen resolution is 128x128 pixels which is fair enough.

Therefore, ratings on the display:-

Battery Support:-

Although the batterry support varies with indivisual to indivisual, but on an whole 6230's battery support is the best I've seen so far in the nokia models. The power plant of this is the standard Li-Ion battery, which gives you un-iterrupted power supply for 300 hours in stand-by mode(with no or minimal use of the camera). And it gives you the talktime of 5 hrs. It provides enough power for the basic camera operations.

Therefore, ratings on the battery support:-

Connectivity:-

Nokia 6230 is fully loaded with all popular connectivity options available today. It supports Infrared, USB 2.0, GPRS-5, Bluetooth, and newly arrived EDGE technology. And it comes with Java loaded too. One thing that you should take care of is its IrDA(infrared). Its not that reliable like other nokia IrDA supported phones are. In nut shell you wont find any future connectivity problems with this phone.

Therefore, ratings on the connectivity:-

Storage:-

The internal memmory of this phone is 2048 KB, but a 32MB MMC(Multimedia Memory Card) compliments this phone. This 32MB MMC comes preloaded with some nice videos, greetings and a single track from Norah Jones................and what more you can upgrade these MMC from 32MB to 64MB or 128MB,the choice is yours.

Therefore, ratings on storage:-

Other Features:-

The VGA Camera also acts as a video camera.

Tri-band GSM 900/1800/1900.

Convenient storage of sensitive personal information with Mobile Wallet 2.0 Pop PortTM,9 and USB connector supports advanced functionalities.

24-chord polyphonic ringing tones for richer sound.

Integrated hands-free speaker for more convenience.

Automatic volume control

To-do list (up to 30 entries)

Notes

Calculator

Alarm clock and radio as alarm clock alert

Stopwatch and countdown timer

Animated color screensaver Full-screen wallpaper Changeable color schemes Automatic key guard

Therefore ratings on features:-

Now the positive aspects are discussed in detail.Lets come on to the negetive aspects.

Camera:-

Although Nokia is a mobile giant and they make mobiles for every need, but they yet have to discover a good mobile camera which can be embeded on their futuristic gizmos. Because like all other Nokia camera mobile phones, Nokia 6230 supports a really bad-bad mobile camera. You'll find some good quality pictures in the daylight, but as soon as you shoot in the dark you'll get some nasty photos. Even the photographs taken by Motorola E365 and Motorola C650 are far better than this phone.

Therefore, ratings on the camera:-

So my final Verdict:-

If you are planning to buy a sober looking mobile phone with loads of feature packed in it, then go for Nokia 6230, but if you are looking for a good camera phone with sober looks, loads of feature packed in it, give a try on ''Sony Erricsson K700i''. Its my belief that it wont dis-appoint you.

Anyway MSians how do you like this review do tell me, since its my second review only, so mistakes are bound to happen.May be I could learn something from your valuable suggestions. Thanks.
