I bought the 5800 in Dec 2008 in Dubai for AED 1550/- and overall, I believe it to be good value for money. It definitely features a lot more functions than the iphone, and various applications are better to use as well. Youtube videos are unrestricted on the 5800 whereas on the iphone, only apple authorized videos can be accessed.
Also, the biggest con of the iphone is bluetooth connectivity and sharing. If you have'nt used an iphone earlier, the Nokia accelerator is fun to use, but once you have used the iphone, the accelerator on the 5800 seems lazy.
The pinch zoom which the iPhone uses for images zoom-in in and out isn't to be seen on the 5800, and you have to be content using the volume button or the scroll bar on the touch screen. The sweeping between images is'nt as smooth as the iphone either.
The camera on the 5800 produces excellent images with it's 3.2mp Carl Zeiss lens, but nightime images are not close to the quality you get from a Sony Ericsson. The video recorder is easy to use, but the slef-timer function does not really serve it's purpose, because to make the phone stand in place on a desktop or anywhere else is a task by itself.
The handwriting tool really impresses, and it's quite convenient to use once you've got the hang of it. The extras that you recieve in the box is a fair value for money.Overall, comparing the 2 phones, you will notice that in appearance, the Nokia seems to be a cruder version of the iphone.
Granted the iphone has a lot of restrictions on it, just like any other apple product, and that Nokia has none of those, but all said and done, the iphone is in a class of it's own. So is the 5800 the iphone killer? You be the judge of that. I WOULD APPRECIATE IF YOU COULD RATE THIS REVIEW, AND WOULD WELCOME ANY SUGGESTIONS / COMMENTS.
