Hi! this is my 1st review on this ite. Recently I decided 2 upgrade my present phone Nokia 6610 to a new phone. I had around 15k to spend. At the counter of the shop I was presented with the sonyericsson k750i, nokia 7610, nokia 3230, nokia 6670, nokia 6630 and of course the newly launched Nokia 3250. I checked all of them but when I got hold of the nokia 3250 I was astonished. It looked rock solid and I found out that the keypad of this phone could be twisted in order to aunch the camera or the music player. It even has dedicated keys for music. The price was a little more than my budget but lookin at it I decided that my budget could surely be raised for this marvellous phone. It has only been 2 days since I have owned this phone so I have not yet fully explored the features of this phone. My review of the nokia 3250 will be distributed in the following:-

  1. Design and Looks

  2. Display, Call quality and Messaging

  3. Camera and Video

  4. Radio and Music

  5. Connectivity

  6. Operating System - its advantages and disadvantages

  7. Package, conclusion and alternative choices available.

  8. Design and Looks

The phone as I have told before looks very solid. I mean the phone is really very well constructed. it looks very good. The phone has a very distinctive appeal. Very few people own it as of now. In 1 or 2 ocassions when I take out my phone from my pocket people standing near me ask me which phone is it? Well I mean if u want a phone 2 show off as well then nokia 3250 is ur ideal choice.

  1. Display, Call quality and Messaging

The display isadequately large enough. It has a resolution of 176x208 pixels and displays upto 256k colours. The screen is very bright and clear. The picture set as the wallpaper looks very saturated and crisp. Believe me when I say that the screen is better even than that of the Nokia n70. Its that good!!! Call quality as we've come 2 expect of nokia is very clear and loud. However I do not find the position of the earpiece very comfortable. But even still its better than my 6610 which was not at all loud on the earpiece. The phones loudspeaker is xtyremely loud. U can never miss a call. the phone can record unlimited amount of calls upto that extent till the internal memory viz. 10 mb gets filled. Similarly for messages the phone can store as much msgs as the memory allows(either the internal or the external memory - there's an option 2 change it.) The phone supports both SmS as well as MMS standards. It is very similar to other similar Symbian phones.

  1. Camera and Video

The phone boasts of a 2 megapixel camera that takes pictures in full 1600x1200 pixels. The quality is fine but loses to the sony ericsson k750i. Still is better than any other 1.3 mpixel phone. The video recording is pathetic only good enough to b sent as an MMS. however there is no limit of video capture. it all depends on ur free memory available.

  1. Radio and Music

The key feature of the nokia 3250 is MUSIC. the phone supports a huge no. of audio formats which include Mp3. aac, eAAC, eAAC+, Realmedia, WAV, WMA etc. Phew! The stereo sound quality is good both in radio as well as in music player. The bass elements are lacked by the phone a bit though but still better than listening to radio on my 6610. The phone even allows to plug in ur own 3.5 mm headset through its adaptor. Radio is of the Visual type which gets u the information on the track that is being played, artist, etc. However this service is not yet available in india. The phone has expandable memory by way of microSD cards. The card is very very very small in size. and the slot is hidden in the phone in such a way that u have to twist the phone once in order to see the slot. I got a 128 mb card in the package.<Update: (but dont worry ull get a 512 mb as the one I got was w/out bill)> but it is expandable upto 1gb. Nokia claims that u can listen to music continuously for 10 hrs. I havnt tried it thoug coz I dont wanna get deaf!!! Yeah and one more thing I found out recently is that u can play ur music during a call and the person to whom u are talking can listen to what music u r playing. Cooooool!!!!! isn't it???

  1. Connectivity

The phone scores very high in the connectivity department. It has bluetooth which sadly does not support the A2DP profile. :( It also has usb 2.0 connectivity through its pop port. The phone when connected through the cable 2 the PC appears as a new device (mass storage profile!!!) which allows u to easily add data u want. The phone also has GPRS class 10 and EDGE class 10 connectivity for wireless internet browsing. Speaking of the browser the phone has a Wap+xHTML+HTML browser built in.

  1. Operating System - its advantages and disadvantages

The phone features the latest version of the symbian O/S v9.1. The advantage of this is that the phone is future proof as far as new application development is concerned. The disadventage is that there are absolutely no applications available that are supported by the phone. It is incompatible with all previous applications meant for v8 or v7 phones such as nokia 6630, 7610 etc. And nokia says that it will take around 4 months for the situation to improve. Till then friends u can only install .jar (java) applications on the phone.

  1. Package, conclusion and alternative choices available.

My Nokia 3250 box had the following:- ? Handset ? Earphones HS-20 with adaptor ? 1100 MAH capacity battery ? MicroSD memory card - 128 MB capacity ? Memory card adapted to SD ? USB cable – CA 53 ? Charger ? Installation CD ? Manual

My conclusion is that the NOKIA 3250 is excellent value for money. Surely u can get better sound quality and camera quality in walkman phones (w800,w810) or even in k750i. But then there is NO SYMBIAN. So the choice is yours. The alternatives that u can choose(which I think r good) are: Nokia 6630 – 11.5k Nokia 6681 – 14k S.E K750i – 13.7k S.E W700i - ?(15800) Moto razr v3i – 14k Sam x700 – 9.5k. SE w800i (if u can get it in the market coz the production of this phone has now been stopped) So that’s it friends hope u like my 1st review ive put in quite a lot of effort in writing. I cannot comment of the battery life as of now as I hav had the phone for 2 days only but ill update my review afterwards. im still playing with it and let me discover what else the phone can do.... Please leave ur comments ill get back 2 ur queries a.s.a.p. Till then friends take care!
