On a hot breezy afternoon in some obscure parts of Kerela some people are frantically plucking off coconut fruits and putting them on a shack, god only knows why. Another set of men are examining the fruits and grading them into different baskets, again god only knows why.

At the same time in some unknown town of Uttar Pradesh a truck rolls into a factory carrying some drums of unknown liquid, god only knows what. Workers at the mill quickly unload the drums and take them to the processing plant, there it is processed and something is made, only god knows what.

Ten days later in the up market malls of Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore this ?god only knows product? makes its way to the stalls and people are more then eager to buy it out. God only knows man, what on earth are you talking about, its sounding almost like a magic potion or something after which every evil in the world is after and only In her majesty?s service special agent James 007 Bondcan stop it from falling in their hands. Well I would all you people don?t droll just Nihar ?yikes what on earth does that mean now..!!

Nihar means admire and look with awe at something and that?s exactly what in god?s name I have been talking about for so long now. Well to spare you guys? further trouble, I am talking about Hindustan Lever Limited?s hair oil offering Nihar. Eeks what else on earth did you think I have been talking about? Well its simple the coconut comes from Kerela and this case happened to be processed at one of the company?s many plants at Uttar Pradesh. Now please don?t scratch your head and curse me with the intensity that it would make my life so very miserable.

Now that I have given you so much good for nothing stuff to read, let me just talk about the product I am reviewing here, the hair oil Nihar. At one point in time it was manufactured and marketed by the Tatas but then they sold it over to HLL. Things have changed from the good old glass bottle days to the plastic ones. I still remember breaking many a bottle in my childhood ignorance and getting a fair and square treatment, thank goodness now the kids have a safer life.

Each hair oil has to fulfill some basic criteria and requirements from the customer?s point of view; lets see how our very own Nihar fits into that.

Aroma is the best thing I like about Nihar hair oil. It doesn?t have that chameli ka tel types smell which people can discern even when you are like ten kilometers away and then they would crack some nasty jokes like chachundar ke sar me chameli ka tel eeks sounds really bad doesn?t it. It doesn?t have a smell, which is either too hard or too soft that people can?t make it out. All in all it has a soothing effect on the olfactory and not something, which you would regret after having applied.

Hair factor being a hair oil in heaven?s sake it has to have a good effect on the hair one feels. I would say it is not one of those chipko types which stick to your hair and makes them look so ugly that you become the talk of the town not because you look classy or something but because of the wonderful way your hair looks. Its not sticky at all and yet it has a rich nourishing effect on your hair something which is what is desired. I can vouch for that from my years of using this product. It sooths the hair and keeps it shining and healthy. Regular usage also ensures that you stay dandruff free despite of the vagaries of the weather. Isn?t that something really great, ask some of the people who might have spent zillions to keep themselves free from those ugly white flakes making a mockery of their wonderful chiffon black dresses.

Cost factor with something which has so many things in the right place one would expect gees it has to be really costly but then that?s not the case, I believe a bottle of 500 ml comes for like 62 rupees or something, which for my money is very reasonable indeed.

Chemically yours it does not have any artificial stuff like most of the other brands which comes from the multi national companies. This one relies on the natural stuff more then anything and that?s what makes it so special to me. It has an ayurvedic touch to it, which appeals to me so very much.

And the best part is that unlike other coconut hair oil it doesn?t get frozen in the winters, which makes it so very painful to use then. It just free flows right through the year, making it a hit amongst people who have to weather the cold, ask someone in north India and he would gladly vouch for that. I remember during our good old school days when others used to struggle with their hair oil in the cold wintry mornings of Nainital I could just bask in the glory of the moment, lol no offense meant to any of my mates there.

Well I have some fond and wonderful memories attached with this oil since I have been using it since the day I can remember. Maybe someday I am going to write another on a lighter note for people who care to know. Till then all I would say is spare your hair the torture of the other hair oil and go get this god only knows thing Nihar that?s the name.

P.S. HLL paid me 2 million rupees in hard cash to sell this product to the wonderful people out there so please visit the review and leave your comments for their marketing manager to have a look at. Cheers!!!
