New Woodlands Home is one of my favourite hotels at Chennai (aka) Madras. If you are looking at something which tastes like home food, then this is the place to be, its a very cosy and comfortable place, nice big tables and comfortable chairs. mild and pleasant air condition.

The favourites on the menu, atleast for me, are the rava idli, the ghee roast (if you dont like ghee soaking dosai, please tell them before hand). The plain plate of idli is great too, and all items on the menu are accompanied with unlimited amounts of sambar and chutney which us lip smacking.

One unique feature you find here is that you will see women taking your orders, they are very pleasantly dressed in a traditional saree and they dont frown when you take your time to decide what you want to eat.

If you are there in the afternoon or for dinner, do try the south indian meals, its a sumptuous meal and very very filling mind you.

Parking is usually a problem in most hotels in chennai, not this one, there is enough parking space for your two and four wheelers.

This is an ideal place to go out to eat authentic south indian cuisine, and it is not very heavy on the pocket either.

Please make a note that the hotel I mention above is the old and normal new woodlands restaurant, not the new Vrindhavan that they started some time back, Vrindhavan is more for the affluent and is pretty heavy on the pocket, but more on Vrindhavan in another review.

All this talk on food made me hungry, so I am off to eat now, bon appetite!
