Nagpur's Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport is easily accessible from the city, with a car, and is quite clean and cosy, but there are absolutely no provisions for visitors to wait and shelter themselves against rains or the burning skies during summers. In case one does not have ones own means of conveyance, transport is difficult to find. There are no pre-paid taxies, and the autorikshaws are only too ready to cheat passengers landing at the airport.
At present (in November 2007) not many flights land at this airport, and there are only four international connections (Sharjah, Doha, Dubai, & Bangkok). Therefore not many passengers coming to India from Europe and America have the possibility of using this airport as an entry point.
Airport officials, though are quite helpful, and I as well as most of my friends have made good experiences, and are pleased with the airport.
As the airport is only now picking up traffic, do not expect it to be as accessible and modern as many other international airports in the world. It sure will get better, with the upcoming international passenger and cargo hub project, but as of now, unfortunately, one cannot give it many stars. It really needs to work on increasing flights, and passenger amenities.
The airport also lacks a website, which can give information about reaching it, amenities available, flight schedules, and delays in departure etc.
