Right from ''The World This Week'' (famously called as TWTW) Prannoy Roy has made India dance to his tunes. He has never compromised on quality whether it be TWTW or be it the older version of NDTV 24 X 7 known as star news. Then how can you expect him to leave even an inch in case of his own news channel.
Prannoy Roy has managed to get an excellent team of reporters and news anchors who have now become household names. Barkha Dutt, Vishnu Srinivasan, Shivrah Prasad, Sonia Verma and Sonali chander form the core of NDTV's newroom. Any channel seldom does have such a dedicated and a motivated team. Moreover, the channel boasts of expertise of several years in the field of journalism.
Lost in the race of ''Breaking News'' the channel does carve a niche for itself when it often refuses to go in the race blindfolded. Facts and rather true facts form the basis of it's principles.
Leave alone the news, the analysis that follows givesan indepth picture. An added advantage is it's focus on rural india- where real india lives and perspires. India matters was an excellent series in that context.
Documentaries in 24 hours are one of the best, giving us deep insight into the issues faced by people in different situations. That is one thing that really moves me.
Election analysis by pranoy roy and his team is always second to none. The sports update is usually short but covers all the aspects. Weather report by anuraddha has been seldom used as a trademark and has the distinction of being the only channel to show the pollution watch.
Innovation and credibility drives the channel.
But, some partiality is seen, not in terms of political parties but for states. Certain states such as gujarat are never given coverage...taht is one disadvantage.
