N.M. Medical is supposedly a leading diagnostics center with many branches in Mumbai, Pune, and Bangalore. It is supposed to have state-of-the-art equipment and well-qualified and experienced doctors and staff (paramedics) who supposedly give a very customer-friendly experience for various Health Checkup Plans, including Corporate Health Checkups.
Considering the reputation of N.M.M., I had recently opted to have my full Health Checkup done at their Centre in Borivali-W in Mumbai, as it was the nearest Centre from my residence.
Firstly, their Reception (doubles up as Customer Care) should be manned by experienced and patient (no pun intended) staff who should be able to understand what the prospective customer wants and advise them accordingly. Also, they should try to make the whole experience a smooth and pleasant one.
When I called their Borivali-West (Mumbai) Center regarding various Health Checkup Plans, I was simply asked to refer to their website. Thereafter, when I called to seek an appointment I was given one on a weekday fairly soon, but the staff didn't tell me that I should get my urine AND stool sample. In fact, based on experience during past Health Checkups, on enquiring I was told that I could collect the sterilized container for urine sample from their Centre (though it's available with chemists too). So, I ended up going all the way from my residence in distant Mumbai Western Suburbs just to collect the sterilized container for urine sample spending thrice the cost of the container (if bought from a chemist shop). This could have been avoided, had the NMM staff suggested I buy the same from a nearby chemist.
Next, I was asked to come with 12-hour fasting at 8am on the day of my appointment, which I did. The registration and payment took a few minutes and I was 'guided' to various sections of the Health Checkup Plan (Gold Plan). While the key tests based on one's blood (both fasting & PP) and urine are useful, all other tests like Dental and Eye checkups are too superficial, and neither the dentist nor the ophthalmologist will spend adequate time with customers to give the advise necessary. The dietician was better, though a change of diet is necessary if Test Reports reveal some serious ailments like diabetes or thyroid or BP issues.
Hence, in conclusion, I feel it is better to get only one's blood & urine tests done separately at a smaller Diagnostics Center at a much lesser amount, than pay Rs. 6000/- for a so-called Full Checkup which is too superficial and a waste of money.
