When I visited Chennai, we had gone shopping to the T Ngr Area's famous shops. While in the past, I had seen Murugan on the way we had not bothered. We found Saravana Bhavan to be good. However this time, I was not happy with Saravan Bhavan (expensive, staff not good).
So, we went to Murugan's and now know why local guys swear by it. It is a tiny air-conditioned place, with a seating area of probably 400 sg.ft. But in that, they have the best run south Indian place I have ever eaten in.
There is a short wait outside and once you are in, the place is clean and the service is super efficient, Their idlis, vada, dosa's, sweet pongal are to die for. This is not a place you come to relax or for a date. There are people waiting and there are limited tables. Though there is no rush to get you out, you eat in a wonderful clean atomsphere that takes you back to the 60s or the 70s, and then you leave. You dont linger.
Much better than MTR, Strongly recommend.
