I bought a MOTO V8 2GB 7 months back as my old slvr l7 was pretty old, I just fell in love with this fone in just one look and got it for 14900 bucks as a gift from my dad on my 17th bday. I have been using the fone for seven months and I think its enough to tell everyone the pros and cons of the product.

*STYLE

As usual every motorola phone model is stylish in the high end range be it the E6, V8 or V3i( older ver of v8). This phone is no exception and it is one of the biggest+ve points of this clamshell mobile. The whole body is encased instainless steel case and the front glass is made ofchemically hardened glass. **This gives the mob a very durable look as otherwise its very thin and wouldnt look at all reliable.

Operating system

The phone is based on LINUX OS and I just love after using my dad's n72 for a while. Its s/w is 1000 times better than a symbian. One more advantage is that hardly any virus goes thru to linus OS. The icons are neatly placed.

*Basic Features

I bought my cell with inbuilt memory of 2GB, one more model is available with a inbuilt memory of 512 mb which I think is too less. The camera is below average and takes bad photos, at night taking photo is impossible without flash. The front screen is atouchscreen **, one more let down that only 3 buttons on the touchscreen work AGHHHHH.

Reception is excellent, it has Crystal talk technology, which reduces voice from backgrount and provides clear voice. Dont know if this thing works or not. I have airtel prepaid and not even once I had a call drop. This phone also has EDGEfor very fast internet conncetivity, though this service is not yet available in india.

The fone has 2 displays one ext for listening to music or reading sms and one main INT display which is quite huge and it provides 262K colors. Believe me the display is awesome as usual in other moto fones.

*Music Player

I wanted a phone which should provide excellent music to the listener and I got what I wanted. Though the ext spkrs are average, my sis Z6 spkr produces more sound that my does but when it comes to listening music through microphones the Z6 doesnt even comes near it. The best sound is produced by **N72. The v8 isnt loud enuf but the clarity of music is more than others.

Reliability

I have been using the phone for seven months now and it hasnt given me a single prob yet(touchwood). The fone is durable but the ext paint has got loads and loads of scratches. The chemically hardened glass is awesomeand even after seven months, it doesnt has a single scratch.

*Battery

The fone **disappoints in this regard. After heavy usage of music, calls and chatting, it barely lasts me a day which means that the charger is always strapped to my hips ufffff. Moto has to solve this batt prob very soon. I have heard that the new v8's are comin with a thicker battery which provides more talktime.

*Conclusion

*If u are looking for a stylish, trendy phone, without more megapixels in camera then this phone is for you. If u take a lot of pics and get frustrated with charging batteries everyday, go elsewhere, this isĀ  not for you. I love my v8 and I think I made a very sensible choice by opting for it over any other phone.

HAv never used a Se or samsung phones, so cant comment bout their reliability. I initially loved the SE walkman but my cousin bro had it and after one month its dispay went kaput. So just a fear, though next time I woud try a SE for sure.
