Not a phone but a style statement

There are several kind on mobile users. Some who just want a piece that allows them to communicate. These are the kind of ppl who will be satisfied with the legendary 3310 handsets and will not stop praising the ruggedness and ... ummm.. ruggedness of the mobile. They wouldnt mind even if the phone they use is actually a dumb-bell in disguise.

Then there are those users for whom their phone is a replacement for their nintendo 64. For them, the battery time is measured in the number of laps they can complete in their car game.

There is another category for whom, the theme is convergence. For them, the phone is not just a communication device but a camera, an MP3 player, a television and on and on. They will go in for such phones irrespective of the fact that some models are as big as televisions in size too.

Finally comes the category of those users(or actually non users) for whom, phone is more of a piece of jewellery to flaunt in front of friends and strangers than a communication device.

Motorazr V3 undoubtedly lies in the last category of mobile phones. I wouldnt say that it lacks in features from any mobile available in market, it has blue-tooth, is WAP enabled (I really want to know whether anyone actually uses this), has a 4X zoom camera and supports MP3 ringtones and what not. Still I wouldn't put it into the category of convergent devices for the simple reasons as

It is too flashy to be in any other category than a style statement.

It has a gigantic 5.5MB of non-expandable memory which is useless for all practical audio and video purposes.

The above limitation does actually makes one wonder whether an investment of around 20K can be justified by this phone when you cannot store even a complete MP3 song on it.

I also felt the same till I bought my handset. Just holding the phone in my hands made me realize what Motorola has tried to achieve with this model. It is actually razor thin as they claim and is wide only at the base just to allow the charging socket to be placed. The circuitry of the phone is compacted so much in that cramped space that there is no available space to allow insertion of a memory card.

In fact, it has only one socket provided that allows charging, provides USB connectivity as well as handsfree(wired). This creates another limitation that you cannot use wired handsfree while charging, but then the plus point is that you can charge your phone from a USB socket of a computer and dont need a free power point for that.

It is available in two colors but I went for black as silver color is too common for mobiles. Also the black looks too cool.

Finally the conclusion that comes out is, if you want to have the coolest phone around and are not concerned with memory upgradeability, you know which one to go in for.
