As someone who is constantly juggling teaching children, composing music, traveling for work, writing online and designing graphics I am always trying to make things run smoother on the home front. That is why when I saw this site listed on Mouthshut, I had to visit it and see what it offered.
First Look
My first impressions were one of great interest as I opened the fast loading, clean and well organized looking site.
There were tons of links that offered a lot of what I feel is very useful information. Links such as
Family
The issues that were being addressed at the time I visited the site for this review were things such as Three is A Crowd which was how to deal with a Nanny that thinks she is more like another parent. Miserly Moms which spoke about how to reprogram yourself to stay out of stores and malls. Daycare which offered ten tips on how to handle and hopefully avoid problems one might encounter with daycares. Pediatrics For Parents that contained information at this visit on children and heart disease, alcoholism and the effects that divorce can have on them. Single Moms which contained articles written by singles moms for single moms. Some of the topics in this issue talked about how to handle when reality of divorce hits, how to prepare for your taxes better as well as a link to sign up for single moms emails.
Career
When I visited the career link I found topics such as Moms Money which spoke on the topic of ways to cut taxes. How Wide Is The Wage Gap? Which offers information on what is found when we compare two identical jobs but what a difference in the salary can make if you are male or female. Business Notes is a section filled with career commentary, tips and tidbits for the working mothers.
Art of Juggling
This section was perhaps one of the sections I enjoyed the most as it addresses what all working women have to deal with as they continue to raise a family and try to keep themselves and their homes in shape. This section also contained information on how to tame tension and stress that we all working mothers find themselves in at one time or another. The Jugglers Workshop offers insite and information into what other working moms have gone through as well as what they have discovered that works.
Single Moms
This section contained articles such as How to Keep The Skies Friendly While Traveling With Your Kids which offers information and tips to make flying those long hours with those little ones just a bit easier. The Hand Count And Recount Experts which talks about what one mom is going through on a daily basis. Christmas Crafts section gives instructions and wonderful ideas on how to make inexpensive and easy Christmas Crafts. A Homespun Holiday is a wonderful section dedicated to the crafts that kids can make as gifts. The Best Gift Of All is about how wonderful it feels to be on the giving end of the gifts, rather than only on the receiving end. Danas Diary is where the reader can follow Dana as she faces the challenges of living a more healthy and happy life. This includes an current installment as well as past installments. A Penny Saved gives penny pinching tips.
Dads Voice
This section address some of the concerns that Fathers have as they adjust their lives to a life with Mom being a member of the working force. In this section they have the links A Fathers Journal and a place where you can submit your stories about coming home to a working mom, Life as a stay at home dad or another story that concerns the juggling of a household between two working parents.
News
This section offers links to new resources for women in technology.
Business Notes
In this section they offer sections that talk about Glass Ceiling Cracking which address the issue that women face in the work force. Traditional Workday Boundaries are a Blur is an article that speaks of the new report that was issued about how Americans are now finding it harder and harder to leave their work at the office. Women Entrepreneurs Are Key To Long Term Economic Growth is a section about how the increasing numbers of women entrepreneurs is critical for a countrys long term economic growth.
Health
The health section of this particular issue address the Great American Smoke out. It offers a wonderful article on the subject of how it is never to late to quit.
Bookshelf
The bookshelf section of the site offers a peak into books that they recommend for dealing with different issues in the life of a woman trying to make it in a world where we have so many demands placed on us.
Recipes
In this section the reader can submit their favorite recipes as well as read other favorite recipes that other readers have entered. This section also contains a wonderful section called Quick And Healthy which address the need for maintaining good nutrition as well as making it fast. Plus, this particular week, it also contained links where one could order two wonderful cook books.
Sports
The sports section of this site is dedicated to sports that women play and other information concerning women in sports.
Archives
And thankfully, for those of us who might miss a week reading this wonderful site from time to time, they offers a wonderful section called the archives that lists the previous weeks articles so that we can get caught up on what is going on.
Other items
As though all the information listed above did not offer the reader tons of wonderful information, the site has taken it a step further and included things such as Discussion lists, Business Directory, The boards, Wisdom of Mothers, Postcards, Resources, and an search feature.
In Closing
I wish I had known about this site when I worked in the public plus juggled all that I still do, it certainly would have made life a little easier in my household. This is an marvelous site!
