I have always admired mithun chakarvorty, most famously known as mithunda, he is a great actor, I know he has given lot of flops movies, but people forgot his good performances, or they never watched his movies, this is the same guy who started all the dancing in bollywood, people forgot about disco dancer, when that movie came out mithun was one of the biggest star.
I never forget that mithunda started his career with a nation award for the movie mirgaya, that how he started his career, not even actors like amitabh, dilip kumar, shahrukh khan, aamir khan got national awards in the starts of their careers, only mithunda was capable of that. He studied acting in prestigious film and television institue in puna. I like mithun in all the movies don't matter if it's b grade movie.
Mithunda's movie only costs about 1 or 2 crores to make, and shahrukh khan, movie is made about to 10 crores or a lot more. MIthunda charges about 75 lakhs for a movie where a guy like shahrukh khan charges about 3 to 4 crore for a movie. Badshaah bombed and phir bhi dil hai hindustani bombed, whose a bigger idiot shahrukh or mithunda. Mithunda movie never flops and its made ontight budget and recovers it's money. Mithunda has a very good attiude that makes him a bigger star then stars like amitabh. You see amitabh bachnan at this age dying his hair, and upgrading himself, where mithunda wears his regular home clothes on the set, no makes no whatever and he laughs all throughout the movies.
Mithunda is one of the best dancers in bollywood, If I were to choose 5 best dancing talents, it would be govinda, bobby deol, mithunda, shahid kapoor and salman khan. if you want mithunda in your movies the formula to make a story is really easy, you don't need a script you send mithunda to village to save the village people from some terrorists, Mithunda has a family the family is killed by bad guys and mithunda takes revenge, every lead actress in the new mithunda movie looks like bar dancer haha. They wear the clothes from the 80's. A lot of action scenes can be thrown in to mithunda movies which are worth a watch, I watched this movie once there are two bad guys to kill mithunda only has one bullet left in his pistol he shoots the bullet and sends a knife after the bullet and the bullet rips into two parts and kills both of the badguys, how cool is that I know it's bs, but if you think about it's cool. MIthunda fights with style he could break guy by picking him up and breaking him in half. when you are watching his new b grade movies the entrance of mithunda is really cool, some guys tries to rape a young girl, or some guys want money from poor people so mithunda comes to save them, as usual his entrance is bindas he throws barrells down the street to let the bad guys known he is here.
Now let me tell you about his good roles and his movies, disco dancer he was nominated for the best actor, he should have gotten an award in that, I love his dancing in the movie and the songs, I am a disco dancer is still remixed today and a I love the song yaad a raha hai tera pyaaar. Then mithunda gave a another super hit movie called dance dance, the movie is about a young boy and a girl, whose mother is a famous singer and as usual amrish puri wants to rape her, he kills the father and kidnaps the mother and she is held prisoner in his mansion. Then mithunda and his sister I think samita patil in the movie goes wandering in the street when they are young and she says agar tujhe zindagi mien kaabhi halwa khaana hai tu tujhe dance karna padega, then mithunda starts singing and starts dancing he starts to get lot of offers.
MIthunda has given a very good performance in the 80's movie called wanted, where he does some clint eastwood type of thing, it has really good action. One of my favorite mithuns role will remain in the movie called ghulami, he gives one of his best performances in this movie I think his name is shakka. I watched that movie lot of times. Mithunda bagged a best supporting actor award for the movie agneepath, his comedy was excellent as he played krisnan iyer. He played a don in the movie called mujrim and gives a good performance also, mithunda also starred in a another hit movie called dalaal the song called chad gaya upar re was very famous. MIthunda with a bihari type accent.
There two movies that mithunda really surpised me in they were called The don and Jallad, Jallad in which he got a villain award, probably gave his best performance of his life time, I don't know why they make awards for villains, separates, comicis seprate and actors separte mithunda deserved a best actor award for jallad. The other movie called the don, which I catched on b4u like a week ago I watched like 3 times, mithunda is great as the don, he wearrs suits in the whole movie only black and white suits and he had long hair and pony tail that really suited him. Mithunda never went to big directors likke subhash ghai or, yash chopra and they never came to him, because he was making easy money with b grade movies.
A hotel chain called monarch based in south india is owned by mithunda, producers like up everyday outside his hotels to and beg him to be in their movies , mithunda return in the movie elaan proved he still hasn't lost his touch in the real movie world. Mithunda was the highest tax payer in the country for consecutive 5 years from 1994 to 1999. He has done and continues to do social all over india.
