Cheer up guys.Great news.!!!!

All the time during last decade we have been seeing how Indian IT entrepreneurs have been creative, innovative, bold and expanding to foreign territories e.t.c .Now for a change Indian beurocracy and Government has created one such news.

Government has established a national e-governance programme(NeGP) to implement e-governance in various public offices. But we were never sure whether it will deliver the results expected from it as the case with many other programmes which governments keep on announcing. But to our pleasant surprise it started delivering.

NeGP is aimed at improving the quality, accessibility and effectiveness of government services to citizens and businesses with the help of IT. In two ways it will act as panacea to problems of Govt. departments like corruption, redtapism, slow working style:

1)Convenient and transparent access to the government services while providing equitable opportunities to all.

2)Administrative reforms within the government, reduction of work burden and increase in speed

Citizens of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, have already seen e-initiatives in some form or the other. However NeGP by central Govt. is looking for an integrated approach rather than a piecemeal one of doing in parts here and there . Simultaneously all the central and state services are computerized and provided through single window.(like e-seva in AP)

People throughout India would now save time, energy and money while carrying on with their daily chores due to wide spread computerization. Land records, registration, income tax and central excise, Dept of company affairs can all be accessed through Net. In the next five years, Indians, including those in rural areas, can hope to be e-enabled for services ranging from paying bills to taxes; police to courts; accessing local authorities to getting the passport made e.t.c

The details of plans and achievements on NeGP are posted on / egov.mit.gov.in / Minister for IT,Dayanidhi Maran should get his due credit for fast pace of action. It is another thing since NeGP is a world bank sponsored programme things are moving in right direction.

Most of the projects are in a public private partnership initiative and contracts are awarded on competitive bidding as required under World Bank guidelines And you know what the power of public private partnership will deliver. Creating best possible solutions, rollout of project well in time, maintenance for initial years and ensuring complete success.

I welcome all the MS members who have utilsed any of the e-governance services to comment on them.

I also request the members to notify any new service they come across which is being offered e-governance since each month a new service is brought under e-governance
