Iron Mike. Review on Mike Tyson

Every one is entitled to their own opinion but, I feel that Mike Tyson is the greatest fighter that ever lived. If Mike Tyson and Ali were in there prime then Mike Tyson without a doubt would kill Ali. Mike Tyson was the Undisputed world heavyweight champion: 1987-90 WBC heavyweight champion: 1986-90,1996 WBC heavyweight champion: 1996 Ring magazine fighter of the year: 1986; 1988. His amateur record: 24-3 his pro record was: 49-3-0-1 (43 KOs). He had 56 fights: 50 wins, 6 losses, 2 no contest, 44 knockouts. Tell me whos better than that.

You say he's an animal I'd like to see you wake up every morning and go threw the problems he goes through, the continous hatred, the media lashing at him, and don king stealing your money I dont think you could handle it. Mike Tyson was a child raised in a bad enviroment.He was a strong person to stay alive in Brooklyn. He raised pigeons because they were the only friends he had. Everyone always has to say the bad things about Mike Tyson did anyone say anything to Evander Holyfield when he was head butting Mike Tyson?

And Desiree Washington come on you know she wanted Mike Tyson why else would she go to a hotel room with him. He didnt rape her she raped him. She only wanted him for one thing the money and because he probally gave her a one night stand she screamed rape. And Robin Givens she claims Mike Tyson use to beat her. If Mike Tyson ever hit her she'd have bruises all over her face do you see how light skinned she is? She lied to him about being pregnent so that he'd marry her she was only there for the champ if Mike Tyson started losing she'd be gone like any other person in his life.

She put him on national televison and had him drugged up saying how much its like hell living with him personally I think it must of been like hell living with her. Mike Tyson has sins and who doesnt but her makes up for them he does charity for the unfortunate and hes homeless himself. Anyone who wants to write me feel free just respond to this post. In his prime, he beat every single deserving challenger, AND DOMINATED THEM, made 9 succesfull defenses of the title, youngest HW to win the title ever, and had the outstanding record of 37-0-0 (33) up to his first loss. Lewis was incredibly overrated. He beat an OLD Holyfield, and an even OLDER Tyson. Not legitimate wins in my book. And to the person who said ’’Tyson went 12 rounds with blah blah blah people, I await your response.’’ Ali also went the distance with a A TON of ’’Bums’’, so do your history. Ali almost got beaten by SEVERAL ’’bums’’!!! However, revisionist boxing historians tend to never mention those fights.

Contrary to popular belief, Tyson did fight some excellent talent. Not ’’all time greats’’, but men more than good enough to measure a person’s ability for sure.....and Tyson completely dominated them. Larry Holmes beat an aging Ali. Michael Spinks beat an almost full strength Larry Holmes TWICE in 1985. And Tyson destroyed a prime undefeated 31 year old Michael Spinks in 91 seconds. Does this prove Tyson could beat Ali? No, but it does prove Tyson was fighting excellent, on-par talent. There was no one left in the entire world at this time. Sorry, but the entire world is going to have plenty of good talent no matter what time period it is.

Let me put this all into perspective. In 1988, Tyson had no one that loved him left in his life. Cus D’Amato, his adopted father and trainer, was dead. His biological parents were dead. His siblings were dead. He fired his long time trainer, Kevin Rooney. His wife divorced and took as much of his money as she could. He tried to commit suicide. He then hooked up with Don King, who surrounded Tyson with ’’yes men’’ that didn’t teach him anything. He literally did not have a ’’real’’ trainer. You can see after 1988, he gradually lost his technical skill he had no one telling him what to do anymore. Because he was around people that didn’t truly care about him, he didn’t listen to them.

A coach/trainer can see things you as a athlete cannot see. But no one wanted to tell Tyson what he was doing wrong, and likewise, he was in no mood to listen to anyone anymore. In videos, you can see that Tyson did not like being with Don King at all. He felt like a dog on a leash. He was literally alone, with no true friends, and ZERO family. He was also diagnosed a manic depressive, and on a huge amount of medication. Put yourself in that position. Not to mention that while he was in prison from 1991 to 1994 he couldn't even put on boxing gloves or go in a ring. He could lift weights, but that doesn't help a boxer in the long run. As a boxer, you don't want to get too muscular, because you lose your speed. The post prison Tyson was not the same boxer of the late 80's.

Such a tragic, sad story. Did Tyson do some horrible things? Yes, he did. But he is also an incredible victim of many horrible circumstances as well. Tyson could have beaten any heavyweight in history at his peak, in his prime. Dempsey, Sullivan, Louis and Lewis, Jack Johnson, Frazier, Marciano, Foreman, all of them and yes, Ali too....IF Tyson was able to catch Ali. Ali was one slick craftsman in his day '64-'67.

The thing with Tyson is the mental disadvantage he has in life. Simply put, the guy is pretty screwed up. If he had at least normal intelligence or personality, there is no boxer to this day that would take him down. Every boxer he lost to was because of a good excuse, especially Evander "the head butting" Holyfield or Buster "the buster, no talent taking advantage of Tyson's emotional problems" Douglas. In his prime (mid 80's to early 90's), Tyson would've made Lennox his bi#ch. I'm not discounting the other boxers but no boxer to this day can match Tyson's power or ferocity.

To beat Tyson, a fighter must hope Tyson is having severe emotional problems and is too distracted to beat him, not to mention he must have a very scientific training regimine specificly designed to beating him cause going in there and brawling won't work against Tyson. Every fighter Tyson fought was protected within the rules of boxing, otherwise, Tyson can get more out of a streetfight then any of those guys. In other words, I know that Evander can kick and bite to, but I'm sure Tyson can kick and bite a lot harder!

Lennox fought Mike Tyson when he had nothing to offer in Boxing, Tyson at his best and Lennox at his best would be 1 or 2 round win for Tyson. Referee was in favour of lennox in all 8 rounds. Lennox can never call him a true champion cuz he failed to achieve what the likes Ali, Tyson or Marciano achieved at their time
