Shame on them all. Review on Mike Tyson

NAME Michael Gerard Tyson

BORN 30th June 1966

PLACE Brooklyn, New York

Raised by his mother in the rough part of town Tyson learned the art of street fighting. Being big for his age attracted attention and he learned to defend himself at an early age. At the age of 9 Tyson gained ‘street cred’ by taking on a 15 year old who had stolen one of his pet pigeons. Tyson’s courage at fighting with this older boy earned him the respect of the local gang members. Soon he was caught up in the world of muggings, assaults, burglaries and robberies that was inevitable from the beginning.

As his criminal record started getting out of control,he was institutionalised at the Tyron School for Boys. Here he started boxing lessons and showed ability beyond his years. At 13 years old he weighed 200 lbs and was bench pressing 220 lbs for $10 bets with the staff. Given expert training and guidance his interest grew, he had a goal at last and that was to become the World Champion.

From here Tyson went to train under Cus D’Amato. He worked hard and achieved his goal. He was unbeatable and before long he had his crown….he was the Heavyweight Champion of the World.

Even though he had it all he still had problems with anger and found himself serving a 10 year jail term for rape. This should have ended his career but no, he made a comeback and reclaimed his crown by beating Frank Bruno in 1996.

He lost his title to Evander Holyfield and in the rematch disgraced himself once again. That temper let him down again and after a series of head butts from Holyfied that the ref let go, Tyson finally saw red. He had

Holyfields ear in his mouth and he bit down hard, tearing a big chunk out of it and spitting it into the ring. WHAT THE…?

To make matters worse he had another go at the other ear as well….?

This was the end for me. This guy was finished, NO WAY would he be able to compete in the professional arena again, the only fighting in his future would be street fights and bar-room brawls.

The big wigs made their decision, he was fined a whopping $3 Million and disqualified for 1 year…WHAT THE…?

Can he make a comeback?

Sure he can!

Should he make a comeback?

NO !!

I no longer watch boxing, I found this decision totally unacceptable. Obviously Tyson is a huge money spinner and there is no one else capable of attracting such attention and pulling the crowds out there.

He has brought the sport of boxing into disrepute but the men at the top who made the decision, made the biggest mistake of all time by allowing him back.

I don’t know who has brought more shame on the sport !
