After reading some of the other revus on this show I have worked out that sirf Milee ke deewane are writing on this show (except a certain someone who gave it a 4 star rating, yet does not recommend it. Talk about confused…). But I’m an exception :) Not saying that I didn’t like the show (hence the 4 star rating)- I just wouldn’t really be in hysterics when shes happy, cry a Ganga of tears in her sorrows, or attempt suicide if she doesn’t end up marrying Rahul…

But then again I’ve only watched this show a couple of times (Naniji’s serials get in the way).

The Timings

This newish show is aired Mon-Thurs on Star Plus at 9pm IST. In the UK it is aired at 7pm GMT, same channel, same days (this time zone chakkar gets my mind in a twist).

The Story

Milee is a poor sweet orphan girl, who has been brought up amongst the sisters of a convent in Simla. She is happy, carefree and tom-boyish – and ultimately loved by everyone despite her mischievous ways.

But on her 18th birthday she pricks her finger on a spinning wheel and falls asleep for a hundred years…no only joking. Sorry, nothing that drastic happens! Actually when she turns 18, she officially becomes an adult and has to leave the convent.

She does not end up on the streets in rags, begging for food (just when you thought the story had a twist). Instead she gets a job as a maid at the wealthy Rastogi household. Her main job is to look after the “old and irritable” Dadima. And if you think that she is well off then think again. Have you seen the pink thing she has to wear?!?

Tv serial twists and turns follow Millee around the house. She falls in love with Rahul Rastogi, the grandson of the Dadima. I’m a little confused about their chakkar, but I think that he is just pretending to love her because he had a bet with a friend. And we all know that “Rahul Rastogi kabhi nahi haarta” (when people start referring to themselves in third person, you know it’s a bad sign).

The house is full of smiles galore with Milee around. Until the shocking secret of the past is revealed…

What this secret is, I have no clue ( I think she is actually a member of a rich household to). So watch Milee to find out!

The Show

I have to admit that Mona Vasu, who plays Milee, came across as annoying at first, but now I think she is a really good actress. Her big round eyes are really good for the melodramatic scenes :) One look at her in her tom-boy outfit could get you wondering wheres the sweetness in her, but I think she looks pretty in the title song when she’s wearing a white dress…

The guy who plays Rahul doesn’t quite fit the role. But the Rahul-Milee combo did get the favourite yogya jodi award in the recent Star Parivaar Awards, so who am I to talk?

The overall cast performance is natural. The concept was original, but lets hope it doesn’t end up….as a tv serial of doom shock horror!!!

The ''Milee'' logo written in bubble writing and surrounded by smiles :) is perfect for the serial.

I think the title song is really sweet, especially the part which goes “mujhko milee…” And it gets stuck in your head…

And some more random bits of information which you might like to know:

“Miilee is produced by Vinta Nanda and written and directed by Raman Kumar who is making a comeback to the world of television, years after their path-breaking serial Tara that brought a revolution in the world of Indian soaps.”

Don’t forget to catch “the breath of fresh air” even if it is just for timepass coz its raining outside and you can’t be bothered to do anything better (don’t ask me where that came from).. And dont let my alternative happenings put you off the show…maybe I should make my own tv show… ;)

So until my next review, goodbye! Comments welcome…
