Given below is the mail I wrote to Micromax. Rather funny experience I had.


Dear Madam / Sir,


I’m one in your long list of harried customers that curse the day they bought a Micromax device.


I was lured by your ads to buy a Funbook 362 on 17th May from the Croma store in Pulse Mall, Pune. Within a couple of months the device stopped charging. To top it up my wife dropped the device and the buttons on the side got lost.


I was terribly busy and hence could only find time to take the device for repair on Saturday, 22nd September. The device was taken from me for repairs and I got a prompt SMS. I was pleasantly surprised. To top up my delight I got another SMS in a couple of hours that the device has been repaired and I can collect it within 10 am and 6.30 pm on any working day. Even my wife was surprised (she’s a hardcore anti-Micromax lady).


So I decided to visit the service center at Hadapsar yesterday to collect the device. They gave it to me and said I can connect the charger to a plug point (in the store) and check. Nothing happened when I did this and I also discovered that the buttons are still missing. Upon inquiry I was told that they merely examined what was wrong with the device. Now they want me to tell them that I want the charger fixed and new buttons installed. When they gave me the worksheet all this was mentioned in it.


That I was furious is an understatement. How can someone be so stupid? I didn't need an expert to diagnose what was wrong because it was plainly there to see for even my young daughter. In fact this was a hilarious experience. I traveled 30 km to and fro to be informed what I already knew. And they even tried to convince that they had called me (which they hadn't) but when I charged them about the SMSs sent they backtracked. I was also told that I need to pay for the charger point inside the device (what on earth do you mean by warranty?). None of us for sure didn't poke inside the charging point to damage it. Doesn't it fall under manufacturing defect when something goes wrong within 2 months?
